AI flights not completing flight plan

I am using P3d with the Realaire Spitfire simulator package including the West Malling airfield which has a few AI spitfires.

These AI aircraft seam to perform as advertised and take off and land at the prescribed destinations when left to their own devises.

However when I try to formate with any of them they lower their wheels, ignore their flight plan and fly on indefinitely on a constant heading.

Is this a feature of P3d? or can it be changed by altering the flight plan in some way.

It sounds like badly formatted flight plans.
You have to follow a few rules or aircraft will go ballastic and fly on indefinitely.

You would have to give us the raw txt files from the flightplans for us to see where there are issues.
If you don't know how to do that you need to attach a zipped up traffic file here.

There is one other Aircraft file but I only seem able to att 2 files.
These are both the files in the RealAir package.

If you could attach the aircraft file it is really necessary to dissect the plans.

If you get this sort of thing in the future the simplest way around your problem would be to zip up all3 txt files into one zip file and attach it.

The Realair package is payware so I am unable to access it.

I cant see anything wrong with them myself. As I said in my first post they work as advertised unless you try to fly in formation with them. I suspect its the way they are handled by P3d and or FSX.
But I have been proved wrong before!!

I agree that there is nothing wrong with them, unless you consider Spitfires flying in the dark.

I would have thought it strange about the formation flying and it would be a change from the FS9 days, where AI aircraft ignored real aircraft completely.

I guess the way to prove your hypothesis is for you to see how close you can get before the gear comes down. Then try easing away outside that distance to see if it raises its gear and goes back to following the plan.

Yes I have tried that and that's sort of what happens except it does not go back to the plan it just fly's on indefinitely.

I think it must be part of the way P3d handles these files. For example it makes an AI flight wait until you have left the runway before allowing it to move to the take off position, as well as other features.

Although I haven't tried it yet it may be different if I make them IFR rather than VFR.

I guess the key question I have now is whether you get the same experience when trying to formate with other AI traffic?
For instance if you are particularly keen on the Spit what happens if you formate with any ot the default GA traffic?
Does the same thing happen with other aircraft trying to formate with the AI?

This would confirm if it is a P3D or some setting you have.

What i am thinking here is that under FS9 there was the TVB aircraft that would effectively fly in formation with your target aircraft that you were viewing.
Now some people had problems with this on their system and aircraft would go ballastic like your experience. Some have no problem except when the aircraft tries to turn finals it then ignores this until you move to another target and some have no issues at all.
This leads me to believe that it is a settings based thing.

What setting is causing this is unknown to me at this moment in time.

Other aircraft do the same thing note just Spitfires.
I have just upgraded to P3d V4.4 and have not tried it yet.
I will let you know if anything changes.
