CFB Gagetown

Post by Firebird »

Gents,
I started investigating places for JYs CH-148s to go to, before Dan released his plans, from Shearwater and came across CFB Gagetown. It is a heliport used for chopper training and seemed an obvious place that helos from Shearwater would go to.

I checked further and found that the airfield was not in FS9 not FSX, as far as I could find, very probably because it was a heliport and there is no released scenery for it. I don't suppose that somebody has tinkered around with the base and would like to share would they?

On Google Earth it is obvious that it is a new build helo facility and not a converted old base.

Even if someone has done a simple afcad for this it would be most helpful as I haven't included it for the Shearwater helis to go to

Yep, I know. It was just that I was looking at it, looking at it, and then I got to the stage that I wanted it - even if it wasn't used.

You're going to need some 146s to go there now. Absolutely loved the place when I was flying out of there.

Go Wolfpack!

Steve

I just knocked it together.

Created a new airport.
Used a helper tool to create the apron. Positioned it with Google Earth.

Saved the Google Earth image. Positioned the image in ADE using the apron to scale it.

The rest is tracing.

Unknown surface for runway in FS9 is invisible.

Yeah, I agree but I don't think that there is an AI Bell 412 out there. Maybe one day, then maybe I am wrong and I have missing out. I always loved the scheme of the 84 Sqn RAF ones in Cyprus.

To be honest I had already started painting the Venom a week or two ago. Then I realised it was quite different to the CH-146.
Only one colour.

Have two Grass LZ's and flightplans for 4 Helo's on Mondays for now.
