Flightplan help

Post by Joseph29 »

I am trying to make a flightplan for the Spanish Army Puma and Cougar helicopters based at Betera in Valencia. From what I have seen on the net Betera ICOA code is LEBT and since LEBT is not in P3D I am stuck. What would I put for the airport coordinates of LEBT?

And since there is no LEBT in P3D would the helicopters show up at other airports I send them to?

Well when I get that I look up "ICAO xxxx" and then hit one of the pages on that airport. It will give you the coordinates of the airport.

Would this be right? LEBT,N39* 37.28',W0* 23.21',414

Also I made the plans for all the Pumas/Cougars based at LEBT (according to scramble). Could you look them over for me and tell me if I can make them better?

On the position a lot of that would depend on where you got the coordinates from.
There are more than one style.

For instance, one place I found said Coordinates: N39°37'28" W0°28'20"
This does NOT translate into N39* 37.28' W0* 28.20'. They are different the first uses degrees, minutes and seconds whereas the second uses degrees and minutes to a decimal fraction.
You are correct that AIFP uses the second format. If your original coords are in degrees and minutes then you are fine otherwise you will need to convert them.

Now as to the flight plans I can check them out but really it is about finding errors. If you have used AIFP then the error checking should have caught everything wrong.
Really the quest to improve is a subjective thing. There are no timetables to view so as long as you follow basic guidelines :-
Don't over use aircraft.
Don't fly at weekends and between 00:01 and 06:00 local UNLESS you know that it would be required.
Don't overly use landaways UNLESS transport aircraft are involved.

Apart from that there are no right or wrong flight plans.

What pack did you use for the schemes?

Thank you for the tips. I will take a look and see if I can improve them any. You (or anyone) can use them if you want to.

For the paints

FS9
https://militaryaiworks.com/download-ha ... 532-cougar
mksuperpumab_spain.zip (on avsim)

For P3D the dds paints are in the converted helicopters

Edit: If anyone is using the plans AIFP say there is a error in the plan for AC#2. Here is a corrected one without a error.

AC#2,HU21-12,1%,WEEK,IFR,0/11:22,TNG0/12:09,040,F,0093,LEBT,0/12:11,0/13:25,040,F,0093,LEBT,0/13:30,TNG0/13:51,040,F,0093,LEBT,0/13:54,0/14:08,040,F,0093,LEBT,2/10:24,TNG2/11:07,040,F,0093,LEBT,2/11:13,2/11:28,030,F,0093,LEBT,2/12:32,TNG2/13:22,040,F,0093,LEBT,2/13:25,2/15:04,040,F,0093,LECU,3/14:59,3/16:03,045,F,0093,LEAB,5/11:54,5/13:36,040,F,0093,LEBT

Like a moth to the flame.

I have just completed an afcad for FS9. Should convert to other formats. Basic.
It appears to work with the MKAI Cougar.

SO the question is, John.

Did you already have that lying around or did you just knock it up when it was mentioned?

Just knocked it out after seeing the first post.

Quite easy actually if you know how. Been making afcads for small strips not in FS for a while now.

Find co-ords.
Find it in Google earth.
Create a new airport using the position known/confirmed in GE.
Manipulate the ground altitude from GE. (Highest minus lowest. 2/3 of difference added to lowest altitude. Convert metres to feet by multiplying with 3.28084.)
Create a runway or apron surface using helper shapes. Headings from Google earth are quite close (Heading true) so it works in ADE.

Fair play to you. John.
I have always had trouble getting Google Earth to marry up with AFX. Even when saving a screenshot to import into AFX and use as a template. Can never get the lat and longs correct. The picture is always skewed. The airfield never ends up correct - for me.

Yes it is my fault rather than the tools, I just don't know what I am doing wrong.

@ Steve

I will write up a how to and post it.

The following problem is due to the LOD's of this model in FS9. Did check it in AIAE.

Why would that be a LODs issue? That looks like an airport height issue, although I know it can't be because of a difference with the default airport.

Because it is a LOD issue with this model.

The other models do not do this.

If you move closer to the helicopters they jump up.

Lastly if you observe this model in AI Aircraft Editor. Scroll through the LOD's and you will see the LOD's snap down from the position of the detailed model.

I did check to see if the afcad was faulty first.

To be clear, the

model=AS532UL_big_sponsons_mirrors

is the one with issues.

I have replaced mine with

model=AS532AL_big_sponsons_v2

It now works properly.
Not the required model but it displays properly.

I just check my sim (P3D v5) and the helicopters (model=AS532UL_big_sponsons_mirrors) don't sink it at all.

(Since I don't have anything for LEBT I saw the helicopter at LEIB)

OK that makes sense now, so the fault is with one LOD that is lower then the others. Thanks for that.
It might be that Miljan doesn't know this. Maybe after seeing this a fix will be available,
