US Navy still fly the C-9?

Post by Joseph29 »

Does the US Navt still fly the C-9's? Or did they replace them all with the 737-700?

I have AI C-9's flying in my FS9 and I like to keep my AI as up to date as possible. So if the C-9's have all been retired in real life I would like to retire them in FS9.

The navy C-9's are still operational. The USAF operates three VC-9C's in the blue/silver colour scheme.

Yes the Navy still flies the C-9. Currently, there are four squadrons that fly them, VR-46 (NAS Willow Grove, PA), VR-52 (NAS Atlanta, GA), VR-56 NAS Oceana, VA) and VR-61 (NAS Whidbey Island, WA).

VR-57 (NAS North Island, CA), VR-58 (NAS Fort Worth, TX) and VR-59 NAS Jacksonville, FL) fly the C-40 Clipper

C-9B's in the Navy:

VR- 46 NAS Atlanta
VR-52 JRB Willow Grove (165161, 164993, 164996)
VR-56 NAS Oceana
VR-61 NAS Whidbey Island (164608, 164606)

C-40A's:

VR-57 NAS North Island
VR-59 NAS Jacksonville
VR-58 JRB Fort Worth

The 932nd AW at Scott operates the 3 C-9C's (tail numbers 73-1681, 73-1682 and 73-1683) but they started getting the first of 3 C-40's in February. I'm pretty sure they still fly the C-9C as it was recently upgraded. I know all the C-9A's have already been retired.

Just saw one yesterday at Paine Airfield (KPAE) in the Goodwrench Hanger.
My brother and I went there to take the tour of the Boeing Plant were they build the 747's,767's,777's,and the new 787's. The Boeing Plant is the biggest building by volume. They said that you could fit all of Disneyland in it and still have 12 acres left for parking, or you could fit 75 World Class Football Fields in there. They have one million lights in there and their electric bill is two million dollars a month.
Was able to see the 787, unfortunately no cameras cellphones or elecrontic devices aloud in there.

Ok I found one problem. I named my C-40's traffic bgl as VR-58, but the planes are VR-59  .
(is "City of Orange Park" base at Jacksonville too?)

And on the C9's I have 159117, 159118, 15919, and 159120. Are these based at Oceana? The flightplans I have for these don't have KNTU in any of the flightplans for those planes.

edit: It appears I have Norfolk NAS (KNGU) as the home base for the C9's. I need to change that to Oceana.

actually, VR-56 "Globemasters" operate their C-9B out of Chambers field/Norfolk NAS not Oceana.

yes, VR-56 is a detachment from Oceana, but operate out of Chambers Field. Actually, every aviation unit at Chambers is considered a detachment unit from Oceana. If you go to Scramble.nl, you can see the order of battle and it shows "NAS Oceana Detachment Norfolk, VA (KNGU)"

Right, that one should be VR-59 "Sunseekers" C-40 out of KNIP, Orange Park is a suburb of Jax.
