Eventually yes, I have the FSDS source files for a Russsian Oscar class, came with the download, it's from the boys over at FSShipyards. Anyhow eventually I'll get around to contacting the original author about making use of his source files to make an AI version.
Heres the periscope only model awaiting its next victim.

The sub-surface question was mine, and YES! That is great to see. Did you experiment to see at what point the shadow disappears? This is great news for ASW simulation. One of the big advantages of aerial over surface sub hunting has been the vis issue, especially in, realtively speaking, shallow waters. Guess I'll have to start rotorwing training soon.

Well I'm still studying all that. If you look at the "family photo" above you should be able to see all the vessel's rear dive planes. Maybe it's the angle in that shot, but you don't see them there. More experimenting to do.
Here's a little photo to give an idea of scale: And this is the Los Angeles class, the smaller of the two!

OK I figured out the whole "structure visable under the water" thing. It appears to be the model's shadow that we're seeing, not the actual structure itself. But with a noon-time sun angle it looks like a subsurface rendering of the submarine's structure. So with "show aircraft shadows" clicked on, you see the effect, and with that clicked off, you don't. Next I'll try lowering the model further into the waterline to see what effect that has.

Next bit of the "something different" theme.
This time, surface warfare in the form of an Aegis class guided missle destroyer.
Just about an hour and twenty minutes of work and this is where I'm at:
