Since the first images of this model appeared in these forums, I've had them burned into my mind, and have always held onto a strong hope that the model would eventually be completed. I've also always wondered what the fde issues were that kept it from moving forward. This thread has brought a little light onto this story, and has also bolstered my hopes. I'll keep my fingers crossed that things will begin to move forward again, but will never push. Good luck! Ron

Ron,

Although the work on the AI FDE back in 2007 had many challenges to overcome, they did not in and of themselves hold up the completion of the KRAI MV-22 Osprey. Although the model, its animations and the AI FDE from back then are not really that bad as can be seen in the above sceenshots, we have never been completely happy with them. :(

There has been a lot of learning on both AI model and FDE creation since 2007 and hopefully if it is decided to resurrect this project, this learning can be applied to create an even better and more realistically flying KRAI MV-22 Osprey. :)

This is outstanding to see. I've been using non-ai V22s at MCAS Miramar California and MCAS New River, North Carolina. Anything else would be an improvement for me.
I would absolutely pay for these Osprey models.

Have taken a look at mine....

Its damn ugly compared to my recent stuff!

Fuselage - major tweak or redo
    Wings - redo
    Tails - minor tweak
    Stab - OK
    Engines - surprisingly OK
Gear/wheels - OK (cant be seen much)

Main issue is the texturing. To get a decent amount of detail it needs completely redoing.
Change from a single 1024x1024 sheet, to a 1024x1024 and 512x512 (this is what most of our stuff uses now anyway)
Add an alpha channel to both so I can include the cockpit 'glass' on one of them (rather than separate file).

Going off the pic's Kev, it looks great the way it is!
Certainly beats the paints off the other one in a photo competition.

Will do Mark (haven't forgotten your F-35)

    Will need some community help...
The 3 views I am using (from air war.ru) look like they are of the prototype model.
If anyone has links to up to dates it would be appreciated, or if you have built a model and can scan the left right top bottom views from the assembly instructions.

Looking superb. The Royal Navy has it on the list for the future fleet AEW aircraft for use with its new carriers. An AEW Merlin is also a contender.

This was the best I could find showing cut-outs. You may be able to find some example wire model pic's on Turbosquid.com

Hi Mark, that's either a very early one or one of the prototypes.
Two points give it away -
      Long main gear doors.
The side sponsons (lumps) are different the skinny bit reaches further back on the current one.
These are the same ones available from airwar.ru

I tried to contact some of the people who have made high-res models in 3Ds-max, assuming they have / had blue prints to work from but so far no body has responded back to me. I'll let you know if they do.

      Kev,

Go with the info you have if you don't have to do to much to the existing model. Like the F-35, it can always be updated when accurite design plans come to hand. It's not like the users are parting with there cash to purchase these models and from what I've seen in your screen shots, it looks shit hot the way it is.
