For users of German Airports 3:

Kiel (EDHK) is included in the German Airports 3 package from Aerosoft, so to use the scenery provided by MAIW you have to search through your GA3_FS2004 folder for edhk*.bgl and rename the files found (I usually rename them .org). There is also a edhkarealc.bgl file in the GA3_LC folder, which needs deactivating as well.

I don't think there are any other files that needs modifications though.

Thanks for another nice little package :smt006

I have GAP3 but hadn't been to Kiel in a while. Now I wanted to see if I could alter the AFD's to have the Seakings integrated in the GAP3 scenery when I noticed a huge cliff between the airport itself and the part where the Seakings are stationed near the coast.

Did you have that as well?

Nope. I've disabled all the files in the GAP3 folder that has edhk in the filename, so only the MAIW stuff should be active there. Then again, I also have UT Europe installed, so that might do something to the area as well.

Hi there
I have installed this package as well as the UKML RAF Seakings and when I go to my paint program to look at them, I am told by the paint program FS Repaint that it cannot display the models. This is the only package the paint program won't display the planes.

I am wondering if this is a problem as I haven't gone to Germany to see if the aircraft are actually their.

Usually when my paint program tells me this, they are either for FSX or there is a problem with the models

Any ideas and thanks

We ran into this with the Alphajets and it was something very simple. I don't for the life of me remember what it was off the top of my head but one of the guys around here surely will and I'm sure they'll comment when they see your post.

check in the folder of each models (\aircraft\"seaking"\"model.you want to check in")
You have a .mdl file and a .cfg file.

Open the .cfg

it should be written :
[models]
normal=the_name_of_the_model
and not
normal=the_name_of_the_model.mdl
simply remove the .mdl and save the file

it should work....

Thanks for the reply Pascal

I checked both the German Sea Kings and the RAF but the cfg file is correct and does not have the .mdl extension
This is not the problem

Next sstep is to go to the airports to see if the aircraft are actually there

Mike, Pascal,

The problem with the Seakings is different than the one with the Alpha Jets during development. The model.cfg file looks okay in this case so my solution won't work. I'll see if I can find anything else.

Boober,

The problem is purely FS Repaint related and is the same for all the Seaking models we have. They should show up just fine in the sim.

I believe it is coded in the .mdl file itself. There are a couple of A/C that I have that do not show up. Strangely enough they are Abacus A/C and the FS Repaint program is by Abacus. :? If I remember right it is mentioned in the FS Repaint docs that some A/C will not be able to be painted with the program. Fix . . . . use dxtbmp and GIMP. :wink:

Hi Greg

I am of the same belief as You and I believe it is the FS Repaing program as well

I will go to those airports the next time I fly and see if the aircraft are there

Thanks for the reply everybody

There is a cliff? Well, actually it is supposed to be there, as the real worl Naval_Air_Station is some 6ft above the water, while the civilian part has a field elevation of some 104ft. And yes, there is a pretty steep cliff there in the real world. :) It starts some 150 meters behind the departure end of rwy08 and ends on it's down side just behind the main maintenance hangar. There is even a taxiway existing between the both parts... you need a pretty lightweight, well overpowered airplane to make it on own power. ;)
