Creating your own arbitrary waypoints for Fs9

Post by Miggers »

Ok,here's another one.

I'm trying to do a reasonably accurate set of Mach Loop flightplans to fly myself in a Tucano,Hawk,Typhoon or whatever else
I have in my hangar.

I have all the map coordinates to do it(starting at Valley/EGOV and ending at Mona/EGOQ) and have read many ideas online(including the one in Fs9 Help),but whatever I do
I just can't get it to play for anything.

Here's what I've got so far:

[flightplan]
AppVersion=9.1.40901
title=EGOV to EGOQ
description=EGOV, EGOQ
type=IFR
routetype=1
cruising_altitude=25000

departure_position=PARKING 11
destination_id=EGOQ, N53* 15.21', W4* 22.90', +000201.79
departure_name=Valley AB
destination_name=Mona AB

waypoint.28=, EGOQ, , EGOQ, A, N53* 15.21', W4* 22.90', +000201.79,

The latitudes/longditudes were taken from an FSX pln.for the north entry(via Barmouth)into The Loop.
Obviously,you wouldn't actually land at Mona,you'd go back to Valley,but AFAIK,you can't actually depart one airport and land back at the same in a flightplan in Fs9 unless you're doing TNG's.

Cheers.

OK to clarify this, you are looking to create a flightplan for you to fly is that the case?

If so could it be that you haven't named the waypoints? I am guessing and looking at FS9 plns the waypoints are all named even if fictitious. Also it may not like the 0' height for each'

Hiya Steve,yep that's right,a flightplan for me to fly.

One guy on another forum during an internet search reckoned you could name the waypoints "Approach,Approach",
but surely you'd need a number too with 26 waypoints?

What do you reckon for height? 500 feet?

I had a Mach Loop plan that worked well on an old drive that went belly-up about four years ago,but internet searches
don't pull it up and I'm stuffed if I can remember where I got it from so I thought I'd have a crack myself.

Well one of the default plans I have installed uses WP01, WP02 etc, and to be honest why not try 500'

I thought the first point (turning in for the Barmouth estuary) could be "Barm entry" then the rest Alpha,Beta,Charlie and so on.

That way,if the FSX plan co-ord's are not quite aligned with Fs9 points for the same co-ords I can either
take them out or have a go at re-aligning them using the Fs9 map to give me the true ones.

There are virtual points so you can call them what you want but it seems that you have to call them something.

Ok.

Going back to square one and making notes of map co-ords for various way points using Google Earth.
So far I've mapped a North Entry from Valley via Bala lake,a North West Entry from Valley via Barmouth,an East Entry via
Welshpool from Shawbury and a Southern Exit from Corris Corner down over Tal-y-Llin lake to coast out via Tywyn(then return to your chosen homeplate).

Still to map is The Loop itself.
I.P for entry into the complex will be The Cross Foxes Inn on the A470/A487 T junction for the North and North West entries.

Entry from the East should be via Llanfair Caereinion,Cefn Coch,Dolfach and Commins Coch to pick up the A470 at Glantwymyn
turning right onto track for Bluebell and The Bwlch for the run through to The Cross Foxes and turning left onto the A487 for
the run down through the Cad to Corris Corner.

Once it's all finished I'll need to look for a way to turn these waypoints into the "pink dots" scenery on Fs's maps so that
Fs's flightplanner will enable folks to do their chosen route.
