AIG AIM-One Click Installer use?

Post by Victory103 »

Just wanted to see if anyone is using the program as it's supposed to be as user friendly as Matrix? I have not had any luck in getting it to run and will run through the support forums on the AIG site. I have been using AIFP for years now to install airline packages and make adjustments to MAIW flightplans. MAIW is my priority, but I do like to have a few of the large national carriers in the sim.

I started using it but soon discovered that I was doubling up on too many models which was causing an unacceptable slowdown in P3Dv4 startup. It is great for new users who are not familiar with installing Models/Paints/Plans but for experienced users it is a bit limiting as you cannot safely amend various settings within OCI. I like my aircraft folders and "Aircraft.cfg" to be laid out in a certain way which I have developed over many years and makes sense to me and I'm unwilling to change my methods.

I'm using it and loving it. :D

It had become impossible for me to keep my civilian traffic up-to-date with all my spare time going to MAIW, so for me this app is a godsend. I was in the same situation as Pete before with all my AI neatly organised but it was either keeping a neat outdated AI setup or letting it go and seeing my airports come to life again with OCI. My P3D already took 12 minutes to start so I don't care if it takes a bit longer now.

I wouldn't compare it to Matrix because Matrix downloads complete packages with everything included from our own server where OCI downloads all individual components (models, repaints and flightplans) from their original locations and assembles them locally so it is a bit more error-prone, but on the other hand it allows for more flexibility meaning you can pick which airlines to install.

If you manage to solve the installation issues, I would really recommend it.

I like to install my plans manually, but I have used the AIM-One Click Installer so I can get models converted to use in P3D. I used it to convert the AIM CRJ 200 and the ERJ's.

I use AIGM OCI and MAIW and having both active does slow the P3d4 loading time. However it's not the duplicate models that cause this, but rather the enormous number of indidual titles (paints).
