MiG Madness

Post by mikeblaze »

Here we go again, it all starts with a picture.........

Now that I have popped the cork (and cherry) in the modeling community, it's time for the next step. In eight years of failed modeling attempts, I have amassed three things; a lot of experience on what not to do in modeling, a large collection of demented and twisted unsuccessful models, and most importantly an agenda for what I want to do if I ever got modeling off of the ground. For anyone who has followed my painting the last thirteen years has figured out that I am quite fond of Mother Russia, and all the mystique of the post-WWII Eastern Bloc military. That being said, this new thread is for a whole agenda of Russian military AI models coming down the track like a freight train. The title implies MiGs, but there will be Sukhois to be sure, and perhaps a Tupolev or Ilyushin in the future; and most of it will be retro. Like my documentation for the Lightning stated, I won't take requests at least for this year, but I think I will keep this thread very, very busy for a long time. I am a huge fan of Sergey Bunevich over at SBAI models, we have helped each other out in the past with modeling and painting, so there won't be any repeats of his models here. However, I think that most of the stuff I have planned/in progress has never been done for AI, or needs an update. So, again, fasten your seatbelt and hold on to your back-side...... and enjoy.

There were 3 to 4 Mig 17F's,4 or 5 Mig21's and at least one uncrated Mig 29 and a crowd of Fouga's .Circa mid 1980's

Dean was a great person to talk to . A lot of jet Migs registrations end up with DM (Dean Martin)

That's Dean and his former friend Dennis D., who flew aerobatic routines in his own Fouga on the airshow circuit in those days.

Dennis wrung me out on an aerobatic ride in his Cristin Eagle biplane before he got those Fougas. What a rush that was! :D

Yes, those are a couple of Convair F-102A Delta Daggers, or "Deuces" as we called them, from back in my years in the 134th FIS, 158th FG, VT ANG.

Here are some pre-beta models, these are the six core single-seat models that the rest of the Fishbed world revolves around, in some variation or another. From top to bottom, right to left they are the F, F-13, PF, PFM, MF, and bis. Rough draft paints, so don't look too hard right now; I was concentrating on getting the models done first, I think I can paint okay, lol.

        Later,
