Re: MiG Madness
To All,
The fact that there is only one (hopefully) modeling glitch across over forty base models is quite amazing, given my amateur modeling status and the depth of this project. I am out of town at work until mid- next week, I will fix the MiG-21UMD then, or any other major modeling issue that may pop up.

Re: MiG Madness
Mike,
Your ' amateur modeling status '. Too modest sir. If these are for the practise I can't wait to see them when you get good at it.
Thank you.

Re: MiG Madness
Okay, for anybody who didn't understand the phrase, "Chinese builds".....
If you go back through the posts, there are some pix of my Chinese models in this thread. This is a picture of the finished clean J-7B model; this one also serves as the F-7N and F-7M (Airguard) export variants. For anybody who is unclear, this is the model list for the Chinese builds; and this will probably be released in two parts (or maybe one 50meg one, we'll see).... Some of these were not exported, and were only used by the PLAAF for air defense, so some will have just a couple of QRA or AD loads.
J-7I, reverse-engineered MiG-21F-13
J-7II, F-7I with the newer tilt-back canopy and fixed front windscreen
J-7III, reverse-engineered MiG-21MF
J-7B, F-7II with two cannon like the original MiG-21F
J-7E, the newer double-delta wing with leading edge flaps
J-7G, J-7E dropping back to one cannon (like the F-13)
JJ-7, a MiG-21U with double-ventral fins
FT-7M, a JJ-7 with late MiG-21-style forward speed brakes, because the FT-7N is an export armed with an internal cannon (the only two-seater of the series to be organically armed)
The odd thing about the PRC is that from old policy, the export stuff was always better gear than the stuff they used for their own military. So, the PLAAF-specific models will be pretty much limited to QRA, and the exports will have some very exotic mixed loads with a lot of Western ordnance.
I'm very excited about this part of the project, because of the mix-n-match of 'east meets west' technology. The painting will be just a diverse as the MiG-21 part of this, but the weapons loads are going to be very fun to work on.
More as it comes.....

Re: MiG Madness
This is the end of this journey, sort of......
Here are a few of the 64 more models and paints I posted to AVSIM and AVSIMrus today; this makes the project 99.99% complete. Parts 7 and 8 of the MiG-21 project are the Chinese builds; Part 7 is F-series exports, and Part 8 is J-series domestic use plus paint kits. There is one model left I didn't do because I have to re-map a couple of parts to make the paint work; and I was too lazy to do that to 41 base models plus loadouts at the very end (sorry....). Anyways, it is the (unarmed) J-7EB/GB variant, built specifically for the various display teams (1st of August, 2008 Olympic); and I have to re-map the wing landing gear doors so that the stripes will flow right on the wings. I'll see how these models work, and if there's a need for an update, I will throw this model in. If I don't get any siginificant issues with these models, I will do it in a month or so. I have some more projects in the works, I have stated what they are in the past, so now I have some time to go back to them; plus some ANG painting I owe to John Stinstrom and a paint kit for Miljan (thanks for being patient, guys).
I do have more projects in the works for the MiG Madness thread, so stay tuned later this summer. I also may have some cousins of the MiG, so look for some more threads to pop up. Finally, look soon on my Phlock of Phreaking Phantoms thread (the word of the day is 'Falcon', I'll let the old guys figure it out).
