Mirages, Daggers, and Neshrs......

Post by mikeblaze »

Here is another project I started more than a year ago, and with the work on the Century Series aircraft, I figured out some things I needed to do for a delta wing. This one goes on the back burner for now, since I have the primitive shapes done, but it will be on the schedule for late winter or early spring 2012-2013, unless I speed up on all of the other open projects I have. Frank Safranek will soil himself with excitement if he is still in the hobby.......

..... and before anybody starts asking, this project will encompass most everything from this airframe: Mirage III/V/50, Neshr, Dagger, Pantera, and Kfir, since there are a lot of common parts. This will probably rival the MiG-21 project, and be published in multiple parts. All user countries will be represented, from Argentina to Zaire. I'll send some more preview pix after some other projects get closed out.

He's still "at it" Mike. You'll find him these days with Team SDB;

Wow, I'm glad I never got past doing a gate guard Mirage III, these look like a great collection. Well done!

Okay, Frank Safranek is helping me now, with his Mirage-obsessive love and his eagle eye for detail. Forget that first collection of primitive shapes I did, this one is brand-new from scratch. This is a Mirage IIIC, more variants will be forthcoming.

Here are two IIIE primitive shapes; the IIIE basic edition (Armee d' Air) and the RAAF IIIO. Everything red is animation to be cut out after final texturing.

So....

Got hold of some 3-view drawings that were not to proper scale (ain't that a bitch.....). This is Mirage 3.0, just the IIIC, but with proper drawings al la Safranek...... Amazing what you can cover up with a decent paint job, although these are just draft textures, to be sure, lots of work to do.

Mike

That is a beauty. The aircraft has lovely lines and very pleasing to the eye.

A great aircraft to fly until the candle goes out. These things have an uncanny habit of landing flat and smooth long after the pilot has ejected.

Obviously I need to visit the MAIW forums more often. This is terribly exciting and Mike forewarned me so the soiling was kept to a minimum. Just reduced to drooling at this point. As you know Mike sees these projects as the big picture and I'm trying to hold him back a bit to focus on the basic IIIC and IIIE airframes from which all versions spawn. It is coming along nicely now.

I'm really looking forward to these AI models, they have long been needed in our sim skies, and also as gate guards in static sceneries as well, really cool! :P

Here are some bare-bones RAAF paints, one of the few world air forces I have never painted for until now; probably because there were already so many good paints for the aircraft I had in my sim. Also, this is the nearly fully-texture-mapped IIIE base model. Once I get final texture-mapping out of the way, I'll start doing cutouts for gear and speedbrakes. And don't worry, I haven't forgotten 77 Sqn on the painting schedule.
