Air Force Academy

Post by BroMo »

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forums but i have been simming for years (FS98 to be exact). A little about me, i grew up in an Air Force family so i have visited and lived on many bases. At 18 i joined the US Marine Corps and got to experience a different branch and lifestyle but was able to be at such bases as Miramar MCAS and Camp Pendleton MCB. I now currently work for the Air Force as a government employee and plan on using my experiences and travels to create the most realistic scenerys i can! I am also a web and graphic designer as well as a part of the support crew for the FSX Thunderbirds (http://www.fsxthunderbirds.com) which is a website I created. I do FSX films, Websites, and now Scenery! For my first release I am planning on creating a new Air Force Academy (KAFF) scenery for FSX. The airport is small since they just do basic flight school their for cadets using Cessna's and gliders, but the scenery of the base is amazing and that is what I am looking to capture. I encourage everyone to look at images of the base just to imagine the beauty of the base. I currently live just 15 minutes from the base and if it turns out as I imagine and you fellow simmers enjoy it I will move on to other bases in my direct area Colorado Springs Regional / Peterson AFB, then Buckley AFB, and hopefully continue to expand around the country as well as overseas! I would love to hear some input and future ideas of bases you would like to see!

Great shots Jon. I used to live off Woodman when I was stationed at Carson and spent some time at Peterson for Aero Club flying. Forced unit move to TX, but would return to CO Springs if I could. Would love to see some scenery for the USAFA and add some AI using the M.Croin SR22 as a T-53 and the payware HTAI Cessna 152 as the T-51.

If anyone knows what the right callsigns are for the USAFA aircraft, I might be able to help out on this front

Just add in the appropriate model and .air file and you are good to go.

A bit of googling around leads me to suggest they're using their registrations as callsigns, with the leader using the Linebacker callsign.

I would love to see a nice custom version of the Academy. There is some very nice Architechture there, along with beautiful surroundings. The fact that you are intending it for FSX and P3d makes this project all the more appealing. The lighting and shadows will really set this off. Please build it on as high Rez of a photo base as you can get.

I have seen them at Bulleyes Aux and maybe at Ft. Carson (KFCS), but we mostly had Doss Aviation (IFS-screening program) out of KPUB.
