Menno's Retro Corner

Post by Fokket50 »

During the years I have been missing some aircraft in my sim, and I decided to make them by myself. Now it is time to share some of my work.
After the models I made (SR71, CH53 and S3) it is time for some textures. I am working on another retro aircraft model, with scenery, but the project is on hold for the time with real life claiming some time as well.

To start, here is the USN EC-24. There is no modified model, so it will be a plain DC-8 with no extra antenna's.

Enjoy,

Please check the dutch roundels on the wings of the F27 and they're only painted on the left side of the wing !!

The cpai f27 has some restrictions, You can only paint 1 wing and it will use that texture for both. So I had to choose between 2 roundels or none.

Our flag is red-white-blue so please check the roundels on the wing. Roundels on fuselage are ok.

As Gert said, it's because there is only one texture for two wings, so you have a mirror effect for one of the wing.

Love the F27 toopship always did a great display, loved it when he switched an engine off in the display :)

Willem Wildvank was a stunning display pilot, and bloody good fun on the ground. I just found this clip of his display at Leuchars in 1995. I was also involved in that display (September 16th, according to my logbook); it was a busy weekend - Coningsby, then up to Leuchars, back to Lyneham then Biggin Hill. The party at Leuchars on the Friday night was pretty spectacular!

Time to put some paint on John's marvelous Hawkeyes. The US Coast Guard operated a few hawkeyes in the late 80's. First stationed at NS Norfolk and later at CGAS St. Augustine. There are different numbers on the net, but i found a total of 9 aircraft, and as there are only a few pictures of them, I had to take a few guesses.
I am also trying to convert the textures to DDS for FSX/P3D use, if somebody would like to test the DDS files for me, then send me a PM. After that I will upload them all to the hangar.

If you go to the Simviation website
FS2004
MILITARY
PAGE149
Third entry down, you will find what you need and as a bonus you can have Neptunes flying around Europe.

Regards Paul Day.
