FSX Afcad files

Post by Keith Jones »

If anyone is interested, I have converted a number of AFCADs from the MAIW series for FSX. In this first batch there are 167 files. I've just spent the last ten hours or so converting these so it may be a while before I can get sufficient 'drive' to do some more!

If you find for any reason they don't work, or don't appear as you would like them to, just delete them. They are just straight conversions from FS9 to FSX using the programme AFX. Tweak them as much or as little as you like and if you can make them better how about sharing them back?

Enjoy.

Keith,

Just a word of warning. Last year I tried to assist with bringing FSX and MAIW a bit closer. By talking about providing converted files I had crossed a line and received some royal kick in the a** with legal disclaimer and everything.

You can read the thread here: http://www.militaryaiworks.com/forum/vi ... php?t=1393

So it may be not a good idea to actually offer your converted files, although I have no way of knowing how politics work over here today related to FSX.

Aside from that: thanks for your work. You might find it actually a quicker alternative to convert the FS9 files with Jon's SDE (http://www.scruffyduck.com/) or Winfried Orthmann's BGLAnalyze tools if you prefer the command line.

Cheers,
Martin

Thanks for that warning, Martin. I have removed the Coningsby file and re-uploaded the relevant ZIP. It may be easier, and quicker to use a command line editor but that wouldn't enable me to add the airport name to the file name, e.g. AFX_EGVN-Brize Norton.bgl, which is quite important to me as I can't remember all the ICAO codes!
