The letters I, J and X are not currently used as the first letter of any ICAO identifier. Q is reserved for international radiocommunications and other non‐geographical special uses. The airport identifier for Lipetsk is RU-0016.

Every russian airfield has got its own internal code with cyrillic letters. Most of them are the same as the ICAO code. For example: UUDD (ICAO) - УУДД (internal), UHWW (ICAO) - УХВВ (internal). But all russian military airfield's internal codes start with "Ь" cyrillic letter which means "X" in international transliteration. Such airfields doesn't have any official ICAO code, but russian (and not only russian) virtual pilots have agreed to use internal code in english transliteration instead of ICAO code. For example Lipetsk-2 AB ЬУВЛ (internal) - XUWL (ICAO), Smolensk Severny ЬУБС - XUBS, Sescha ЬУВД - XUWD etc.

Here's hoping.

I think that with the release of Mike P's aircraft plus current events I would think that there is a lot of interest in bases in that region.

Thanks for the reply.
Agree with "Firebird" and would love to see it finished off.

Jim

PS Anyone know of a scenery for Orenburg-2, the IL-76 base to the SW of Orenburg.

Jim, I tried looking for it earlier, but came up short as well. I saw your post over at Avsimrus, and if that doesn't yield an answer, I can probably drag out an old started-but-never-finished project of mine ;)
