C-26E Question

Post by Joseph29 »

I have a couple of C-26E paint's and I would like to know where they are based. Here is what scramble says.

91-00507 is no longer current with unit
91-00506 is with 2-641st AVN
94-00259 is with 2-641st AVN

Where is the 2-641st AVN based?

Well a cursory glance at the internet revealed this page :-
https://currentops.com/unit/us/army/641-avn/2-bn

The interesting bit there is "Detachment 47, Operational Support Airlift Command" as OSACOM is the unit responsible for what has always been termed as the communications role, which is what the C-26E is used for.

Now looking at Scramble for Salem OR shows Det.47 OSACOM based there with the C-12T.

So I would say that possibly either the database is out of date or the Orbat is out of date or possibly both.

Ok thanks. I will hold off on doing anything with those textures until I know for sure where they are based.

While not a perfect solution, adsbexchange has searchable history by serial number. It's not perfect, but it can find a home airport as long as they aren't deployed.

The units numbering might be off but I do have a list for the OSA aircraft, it is dated. The C-26s are small and only a few SFD (State Flight Detachment) had them: AR, WI, NC, SC, GA, MA and CO.
