My New Rig

Post by LEBTowerGuy »

A few weeks ago my motherboard decided to give up the ghost after 7 years of faithful service. So I have set out to build a good rig for running FS as it should. I am hoping that this will do it. Let me know what you think.

Should be a nice system. You'll love the CPU. Why such a small hard drive, though?

GTX 560Ti is a card with one of the best price/performance rates at the moment and you can easily pop another one in later as your motherboard supports even up to quad-GPU SLI if I'm not mistaken. Very good choice if your budget only allows one card for now.

Thanks for the HDD info, but I think I will stick with the HDD I have for now, and upgrade to a Solid State one when the price comes down from orbit.

Looking at these parts, does anyone think that there may be any compatibility issues with them?

Just make sure the cooler is for 1155. Accidentally got one for 1156 and had to RMA it. I went with water cooled after that. U may have case issues but you always have that...will everything fit, reach, etc...

I’m in need of whole new CPU but I’m not a PC geek so buying something suitable is going to be interesting.
I’m looking at something along the lines of an;

Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4Ghz (3.8Ghz Turbo Boost) unlocked processor overclock up to 5Ghz.
Asus 6950 ATI graphics card, 2GB DDR5, 2x DVI & 4xDP (6 monitor output)
120GB Kingston HyperX Sata3 SSD drive
2 TB Sata HDD drive.
Sandforce 2181 controller
Advanced cooling Thermaltake level 10GT gaming case
775W modular power supply and Thermaltake Frio OCK gaming cooler.
Intel Z68 chipset MSI motherboard, USB 3 & SATA 3 PCI-E 3.0
Overclock Genie with Military class components
16GB Gaming Ram 1600Mhz
Blu-ray DVD Burner
WI-fi Dual Band
Windows 7 professional
Plus LG- 3x24” LED 1920x1080, 5ms monitor wall

This is just a starting point, if there is better for the right price then I'll go for that instead.

Doesn't everbody use something like this for there moderate gaming needs these days, well that's what all the magazines seem to say. I'm really looking forward to the three monitors that can be setup to show forward and side views for easier and more realistic VFR flight. They say this CPU can also take the six screen pack but I doubt that would be the case running FSX at max. I'm just looking for something that won't labour when high-res scenery comes into view.
