Intel kernel flaw

Post by Firebird »

Gents,
It seems that all modern Intel chips have a kernel flaw in them that affects each OS that uses them and allows a hacker to take control of the devices protected memory.
Linux and MacOS have already rolled out fixes but it seems that somebody spilled the beans before the next MS Patch Tuesday.

So MS is rolling it out to Windows 10 users later on today but users of 7/8 will not get it until next Tuesday.

One side effect is apparently that older PCs will run slower although Intel are playing down this as non-noticeable in normal circumstances.

Here is one article talking about it https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-r ... flaw-today. The gist of what I have read is that the older the OS and the older the machine the more likely you are to notice a slowdown.
