Hi, over the last couple of days my Windows 7 (3 year old) PC has started having start up problems, in that I have shut down and start up several times before I can get the normal format. So my question is, what is the general opinion about leaving it running all the time.
Regards

Re: PC Problems
I leave mine on all the time and have done for years, I was once told a PC cost about 10p an hour (probably more now) and if you dont keep shutting it down and starting it up again it wont wear out, it has worked for me.
I also leave my sim P3D running for days aswell lol.

Re: PC Problems
I leave mine on for most of the week and give it a rest once a week overnight. If you are having startup problems I would get a full backup before doing anything else (just in case). The problem could be caused by any number of things from PSU/Mainboard/HDD Hardware problems or a Software corruption.

Re: PC Problems
Does it help if you put the PC into "Sleep" mode? It powers down but leaves everything that's open at that point active. When you wake up the PC by jiggling the mouse, those programs restore instantly without booting again.
