Post by flyboy »

SP3 for XP is out. Check the Microsoft web site. Also a new upgrade to DX9c is available.

I don't see SP3 for Windows XP. All I can find is SP3 for Office XP. Do you have a link to the Windows XP SP3 site?

There is a release candidate for XP SP3 but it is virtually a public Beta:-

Oh hell! My pucker factor goes way up whenever something like this comes along. Usually it isn't possible to undo if it turns out to be a bust, and I'd hate to have to start all over, but you just know that they wouldn't release one of these if it wasn't really needed because of some major glitch they have uncovered, so damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Some brave sole, please report on your results please. You might save a few of us!

I have had it installed for over a week with no issues. All I believe they have done is combine all of XP updates into a single service pack with a few bug fixes.

I haven't done an XP update in several months now.
The last one I tried really mucked up my machine.
But if you guys are satisfied I might as well take the plunge too.

Just don't forget to set a restore point....LOL

Remind me, release candidate software is something like beta, right? Not ready for release to the general public?

RC is one step before code complete or public release. It's virtually the final product and unless a massive flaw is found it will in all likelihood become the finished product.
