I've been using EZScenery for quite a few months now. Been having good results and ez to use.

I recently installed Instant Scenery to compare to EZS.

IS has a Library Maker with it so you can organize your scenery files.

Here's the problem.

Ever since installing IS when I unzip ANY bgl file, it now turns into a Library Maker document file.

So I deleted IS but still have the same problem.

Has anyone experienced this before and if so how do I fix it?

Never heard of nor had that problem.

It sounds like you've somehow assocated the bgl file extension with Library Maker which is a separate exe application from Instant Scenery itself. Libarary Maker actually runs "outside" IS.

I'd manually doublecheck that you have actually deleted the LM exe file by looking in the file structure - probably under ..\Program Files\Instant Scenery. If it's still there, then delete it. If not, then do a global search for LibraryMaker.exe.

If still not found, then I don't have any ideas how to help.

Thanks Ford, but I've already done that.
I'm not able to reassociated the bgl files back to Notepad either.
Not sure why.
I also looked for a dll file in FS9 modules but didn't find anything that appeared to be linked to IS or the file library.

I'll keep looking tho..

Um, you might try looking in the registry itself.
Sorry to hear this is a problem as IS has been nothing but great for me.

What do you mean by "unzip a bgl"?

What I meant to say is when I unzip a compressed file that has bgl's in it they are converted somehow into the Library text files used by IS.

I'm gonna try a system restore as I simply hate messing with the registry if I don't absolutely have to.

Converted or does the icon just change to "open" with IS? In other words, can you right-click on the file and select Open With | Choose Program?

Dan,
I've tried that. Still no joy.
When it changes, it stays changed no matter what I do.

What I haven't done yet is to install the bgl's and activate the scenery. I don't know if they will change when I move them or not.

Well, I restored my computer back 2 days. 1 full day before installing Instant Scenery. And now all my bgl files have been changed to the Library Text files.
They used to show as bgl but now do not.

This is driving me nuts.

Last update..Finally fixed it.
Restored back to 1 week and now everything looks good.

I'll not be installing Instant Scenery again to say the least.

Thanks for listening...err...reading.
And thanks to those who tried to help.

I also have never had a problem with IS. Was your version 1.04? You should post question over at the IS Forum.

FSDiscover has been very helpful in solving problems with the program.

I'm not sure that the problem was related to IS as much as it was the Library Maker.
I deleted IS but all my bgl files remained associated with the Library Maker...even though it had been deleted.

Several searches for any LM files found nothing. So then I was even more confused.

I decided to select a restore point several days before installing IS.

After doing that all is back to normal.

Since I'm using FS9 I'll just stick with EZScenery.

Thanks everyone for the interest.
