Vista security

Post by VulcanDriver »

Does anyone know how to prevent Vista from stopping me moving .dat, .exe and any file it thinks is suspect.

I'm trying to copy a folder from a zipfile to the C drive and Vista keeps preventing me from moving it as it tells me that these types of file present a danger!

How can I turn this function off whilst I'm moving this folder? I tried turning off access control but that made no difference.

John,

Turn off User Account Control in the "Other Security Settings" of Windows Security Centre. Unfortunately this will result in you having an annoying pop-up every time you load your computer but it will stop everything getting blocked.

Well turning Account Control off made no difference so I tried a different tack.

I FTP's the files up to a server, downloaded them and guess what? They copied and installed perfectly! I just do not understand MS operating systems!!!

I recently had a new PC made up for me and I stipulated I wanted XP NOT Vista, I did hear there is another version of Windows due to be released soon but I read it is even more controlling than any of the others.

That would be Windows 7.

Windows Vista 64 bit equals 16 gigs of RAM.

FTW!
