Norton Internet Security 2010

Post by BadPvtDan »

I picked this up yesterday and have been very happy so far. It picked up a bunch of tracking cookies that Ad Aware did not...no infections thank goodness. There is very little draw on resources as well. This new "Insight Protection" is very interesting. It checks your files vs. the same files on others computers and builds a database of known files.

I was using BitDefender and that was the biggest piece of trash I ever spent money on.

So...poll time! What do you use?

I swapped about 3 months ago to Norton 2010 after 5+ years with Trend Micro and am super happy with the performance so far.
An excellent product with minimal hit on the resources.

I had TREND but it just killed my PC.
I then moved the Bitdefender and that was just pants, slow and also kept blocking streaming of PS3 and XBOX360 stuff, even when firewall opened...

Now got Norton and seems great, takes a while to start up but does the job....

I used to use AVG but it used too many resources.
Now I use Avast. It is another freeware program that uses next to nothing in resources. And I haven't had a problem, knock on wood, for a few years.

McAfee here due to company needs. If you ever wanted to have a tool to cut the performance of your PC down to half then buy it. The good thing about it: I never had a virus so far.

Until about March 2009 I was using Norton AV many years and was happy with it. The only backdraw was an update that went wrong once.

I used to use AVG along with Spybot S&D But have recently changed to Avira Antivirus and Malwarebytes
as they are less resource hungry. Both seem to be working fine so far. I never pay for my Anti-virus as
the free stuff does all that I want and is much less intrusive and resource hungry.
