Mobile connection suddenly impossible

Post by sprocky »

Since last spring I was using a Huawei K3715 USB adapter and Vodafone for mobile web access. Without changing Windows Vista32 settings and no newly installed programs I received "RAS error 31". I searched the web already. Re-installed driver and software without any changes. Does somebody of you have an idea?

Thanks in advance!

No, at least not as a hex code

I have also seen 631 and 678 on occassion. I compared events within the event viewer and could not find any differences - except for the error being reported these days.

Error 631: The port was disconnected by the user.

Error 678: There is no answer.

Try this:
-Delete the account.
-Go to start
-Run
-Type cmd (open command prompt)
-type netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt and then press Enter.
Restart your computer.
Recreate the connection.

I may be slow this morning: Which account? The Vodafone one? I can only add or remove the device. Or were you talking about the WIN logon account?

Should I type this?
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

Also I am not sure if I wrote something that you may misunderstand. I am not talking about WLAN but UMTS connection.

Thanks for your help so far!

Jan,

First remove the conncetion from your connection and network center referring to the wireless Vodafone USB connection.
Then open a command prompt:

-Go to start
-Run
-Type cmd (open command prompt)
-type netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
This will instruct your PC to reset all current ipv4 adresses to default.
Press Enter.
Wait for the command to finish.
type exit in the command window.
Remove the usb stick from the laptop.

Shut down the PC.

Reboot the PC, wait until all initial tasks are finished. ( in the initial taks will be a removal of the drivers and configuration of your usb stick since it is no longer present).

Connect the usb stick again and let installation finish.
Then check if the connection is present again in the connection and network center.

If you still have problems let me know
