Bae Hawk Solo Display Schemes
I wanted to start off with the first ever special scheme worn by a hawk but got sidetracked into one of my favourite designs to be placed on a hawk, and here it is...
Bae Hawk T1 XX172 (ST. ATHAN STATION FLIGHT (RED DRAGON SCHEME) 2001
This is one of two Dragon designs that featured on XX172 with the first being a Black Dragon in 1995.
Again if more interest is shown i will do them all and release them in one big pack!
many thanks
Mark

Re: Bae Hawk Solo Display Schemes
Are you shitting me, that is fantastic work. I'd prefer a simulator full of display schemes then have a flight line full of dull black or grey paintwork.
Keep up the great work, it is very much appreciated.

Re: Bae Hawk Solo Display Schemes
Really gorgeous paint Mark. We really should try and make a new Valley package with the T2s at some point.
But these retro paints you guys are doing is fantastic. I remember seeing this one at an air show.

Re: Bae Hawk Solo Display Schemes
So.... 1986 saw the first Hawk painted in Solo Display Colours, ok not a full new scheme but the standard red & White training scheme now featured a full union flag on the entire tailfin...
XX238 1986 (SOLO DISPLAY) 4FTS RAF Valley
Although a striking Scheme, the best was yet to come!!!....

Re: Bae Hawk Solo Display Schemes
The display season of 1987 again saw XX238 taking to the air in a very similar scheme it had worn the year before, but this time it had a much more defined Union flag on the tailfin and a wider red stripe from tail to nose..

Re: Bae Hawk Solo Display Schemes
The 1987 display season also saw 79 "Shadow" Squadron showing off a new medium Sea Grey scheme with a Golden Yellow stripe thinly outlined in black down the fuselage sides and up the fin.

Re: Bae Hawk Solo Display Schemes
1988 saw the Hawks revert back to their training colours so with no new special schemes appearing we head to 1989, this was by no means a new scheme either but it did perform on the display circuit and deserves a place in the display scheme history... This was the last time the hawk would display in tactical camouflage...

Re: Bae Hawk Solo Display Schemes
The following Couple of years saw a variation of the raspberry ripple scheme, those most notably coming from 4FTS at RAF Valley...
1991 XX249 (Solo Display) 4FTS 70th Anniversary, 4 FTS was formed at Abu Sueir, Egypt, on 1.4.1921, hence the Palm & Pyramid unit emblem. Also included was a slightly bigger roundel..
1992 XX163 (Solo Display) 4FTS RAF VAlley (One of 2 hawks painted in this scheme the other being XX224)
>>A small correction to 1998 XX283 (Solo Display) 151 Sqn 2 TWU RAF Chivenor / it should say 1989 not 1998 <<

Not display related but saves making a new thread
A pair of Bae Hawk 53's Both aircraft are resident at the BAE Doncaster facility and are now used by BAE systems in the training of new aircraft engineers.. The design on the tail also featured on the Bae Hawk T2 Demonstrator ZJ100 in 2000 and was nicknamed "Coffee Stain"
many thanks
Mark
