Interesting Gulfstream II

Post by MIKE JG »

Haven't seen this guy before, stopped in for gas today here at KCLE.

Image

Google search says it's used by Lincoln National Labs/MIT. I'm guessing it flies in Area 51 on occasion..... 8)

Sorry for the crappy pic, my regular camera's battery was dead.

All the bumps on the nose too, wonder what's inside, I'm sure not the normal plush "G" style interior.

If you look closely underneath the outboard portion of the wings, those look like missile rails to me.

That's interesting. What is also interesting is that Gulfstream II's, since they have those old school RR engines on them, have to have a hush kit applied to their engines to meet federal noise compliance restrictions. It looks really weird on the back of the engines when they are on there.

This one does not have the hush kits applied and was very obviously not in compliance with Stage III noise restrictions when he blasted off after his gas and go.
