Voicepack errors
Hi guys,
Been reinstalling a lot of stuff and noticed that you have been making loads of callsigns............thank god for that!
There have been a few errors, not in the callsigns, but in how they are made/designated/listed. Whilst some, if not all are minor, they could lead to the callsigns not being recognised by the voicepack.
Here's a quick "checklist"
1. Red is not good
If after creating your callsign, you have a screen like this, something is not right.
2. Missing sound
Pretty straightforward, the sound you created has not been copied to all voices. Very Important you must listen to all voice reproductions of the callsign as sometimes, 1 or 2 voices will not be "saying" what you thought they were.
3. Title Case
The callsign name (in the circled area) must always be Capital letter followed by lower case - eg "Stewart". this applies to all words - eg "German Air Force". It must also match the callsign name at the top (which is all capitals).
4. Format
When entering the description of the callsign, you should put the name of the country in brackets after the description - eg F-15 493rd FS (United States). This one does not effect the callsigns, but it does stop the dreaded red highlights.
Hope this of some use.

Re: Voicepack errors
Successful with the FS9 verison, I've now switched over the FSX version. A few differences, but I used the above to make some custom callsigns I needed and the procedures are straightforward between the FS9 and FSX versions. Very important to "tweak" the other voices at times. My only issue with the FSX version is it doesn't show if you have duplicate callsigns.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe EVPX automatically rejects duplicates.Victory103 wrote:My only issue with the FSX version is it doesn't show if you have duplicate callsigns.

Re: Voicepack errors
Thanks for that, Stewart. I had quite a few entries highlighted in red and, funnily enough, quite a few were yours!! Not a problem, though. My EditvoicePack is now 'red entry' free

Oooh I hope not, for you guys sake. It would be a bit naughty if it rejected an update as an earlier inferior sound was installed.CelticWarrior wrote:Don't quote me on this, but I believe EVPX automatically rejects duplicates.

Re: Voicepack errors
No idea about FSX and EVP, but I would have thought Lars would have left in the duplicate detect function.

Re: Voicepack errors
I thought that as well coming from the FS9 version, but no red is shown for errors. I now check the callsign list to make sure there are no duplicates, and manually delete them. Still trying to figure out how to change the "line up and wait" as I had it in FS9.

Voicepack query to the Guru
For the great Voicepack Guru, Stewart really, but if anyone can help.......
I'm trying to create a callsign which is already available as an aircraft model.
Is there an easy way to copy and "rename" it as a callsign.
Many thanks in advance
Jim

Re: Voicepack errors
If you export the sound and then edit the vcpmod you will find that it is in fact an xml file. There is either one or two parms that you need to alter but then you can import it again as a callsign. I can't remember, off the top of my head, the alterations needed but if you have a callsign vcpmod, or export one, you will see what need to alter.
That is how I did exactly the same thing that you need.

Re: Voicepack errors
I'm just going through the missing facility in EVP and trying to find various c/s that are missing from packages.
eg MANIAC from the Eglin pack.
and various ones from the GLANG packs. I know they're old but I'm running a retro setup as well as modern.
It mentions it in the documentation but does not appear to be in the pack itself.

Post a list of what you need Jim, I'll see what I can do.
