M345 will be next Frecce Tricolori plane

Post by maverick69 »

Today Italian Defence Minister, during his visit to Rivolto air base (Frecce Tricolori Home base), stated that the next Frecce's plane, from 2017, will be the M345, last evolution of the SIAI S211. Italian article from Dedalonews:

And we already have this model for AI FS2004.

MGAI (Mark Griggs) has released some years ago a SIAI Marchetti S211 multi-lods model. M345 is just a evolution of S211, with the same shape.

Five years information ?

According Scramble.nl, M345 made his first flight this week. Italian Air Force will buy them to complete the formation along the new M346.

On 21 December 2018, the first production M345 High Efficiency Trainer (HET) basic/advanced trainer aircraft (serial CPX624) successfully made its first flight from Venegono Superiore airport (Varese, Italy).

The M345-HET is a trainer that is able to combine a jet’s performance and effectiveness with the cost of a high power turboprop trainer.

The Aeronautica Militare (AMI, Italian Air Force) is the launch customer for the type, and has a requirement for up to 45 M345s (within AMI it will receive the designation T-345A) to progressively replace 137 MB339s, which first entered service in 1982. The T-345A will become the AMI's Frecce Tricolori new aerobatic team airplane.

So far, the AMI placed an order for five aircraft and the first will be delivered in early 2020.

The new M345s will integrate the slightly larger M346 training syllabus during the advanced training phase of the AMI pilots. Through the International Flight Training School at Lecce air base in Southern Italy, the AMI will be able to strengthen its training school’s growth and internationalization while increasing at the same time capabilities and services offered to customers.

The Alenia Aermacchi M345 (the design was earlier known as M311 ) is a turbofan-powered military trainer aircraft. It is a development out of the SIAI Marchetti S.211/Aermacchi S-211. The M345 prototype made its first flight on 29 December 2016.

Ah well, see, that is new information. You might have started with that

The fact that the model and paintkit are available is five year old information and was already posted (although the link was broken).

I actually developed the correct M345 model but it never got released. I think the only person who got a copy of it was Mark Campbell. I no longer have the source files for this model or a copy of the compiled model myself.

Sophie

You can find a copy of the S211 model on Flightsim.com under the header (FS2004 Philippine Air Force S211 Trainer Jets), not sure that it exists anywhere else these days.
