German Tornado crashed

Post by gsnde »

On January 16th a German Air Force Tornado crashed at 21:30 southeast of Laubach in Rhineland-Palatinate - 5 km northeast of air base Büchel. Both pilots could eject and survived with only with minor injuries. No civil casualties. The motorway A-48 was temporarily closed because of debris.

It is said that the aircraft was coming in too low and touched something - but this is not yet confirmed.

Sad :( But thankfully the crew escaped without major injuries.

On a sidenote: the website of the SWR states that it was not a technical fault and they also say it was not a pilot error. I wonder why the Luftwaffe is so sure about both "facts" already...
