Italian "journalists"

Post by bismarck »

On the online edition of the main Italian newspaper "Il Corriere della Sera", today appears a news of an Alitalia A-320 on route between Amsterdam and Rome, followed by two German fighters for 20 minutes. The "journalist" describes the event based on the testimony of one of the passengers.
Then explains why this can happen, and describe what could happen in similar cases in Italy.
Well, in his opinion, in Italy a couple of F-104 or Tornado ADV, should take off in five minutes to intercept the "renegade" aircraft, starting from one of the following bases: Cervia?!?!?!? Grosseto (ok), Grazzanise?!?!?!?!? or Trapani (ok)
I can't remember the exact date, but I think that the 104 was dismissed in 2002 and the ADV in 2006. Cervia and Grazzanise have respectively AW-139 SAR and AB-212 from years.
The article has been corrected later, and the 104 and ADV are not mentioned anymore. Remain Cervia and Grazzanise.
