MCPHERSON, Kan. -
Crews have removed a Blackhawk helicopter from the runway at the airport in McPherson after a hard landing Wednesday morning.
A public affairs officer, Ben Bauman, says Kansas National Guard 1st Battalion 108 Aviation unit was doing a standard night training exercise and experienced troubles.
Kansas Highway Patrol tells us, there was a malfunction to the helicopter's tail rotor.
The Army National Guard of Salina is conducting an investigation. It's unclear if it was a pilot or aircraft error at this point.
There were 4 people in the aircraft. It happened around midnight and caused sufficient damage to the helicopter.
No one was hurt.
