Hello,
I found on youtube an interesting video about flightdeck preparation of a C-17 Globemaster.
At 10:28 you can hear a loud sound in the flightdeck which sound like a jetengine is howling.
Does anybody know what this sound means and when it can be heard?
Sound is at 10:28

Sounds to me like he’s doing a test of the fire detectors for the APU, then starting the APU.

My guess would be the APU.

At the 1025-1030 timeframe. The loadmaster, sitting in the right seat is testing the cabin smoke detection system. That sound is the cabin smoke detector controller resetting after the BIT check concludes. The APU is started a few steps later in the checklist.
Place enough force behind a brick and it will fly!
