wow!

Looks really impressive,

You've not only replaced the normal tree's but you have added more!!!

I take it you added the cars also?

Would be really happy to take a copy from you with the default tree's when its done, if that would be OK!

have you decided whether your adding ACG fences? or just default?

Great work keep it up!

Thanks for the kind words.....

Yes, there are more trees. lots more. Every tree that appears in google earth, has been placed, obviously not each single tree, but each area where there are trees in real life, they are now in the scenery. The fences that you see there, are the orbx ones but i will try to use the acg ones, have to send an email to john and steve to see if they could help me find out why i cannot add them in to this scenery whereas i can access the files from bentwaters or any other acg sceneries..

Still plenty to do, but progress continues.

Trev did you get any further with this?

Was flying here the other day but looks a bit more dead without tree's or the fences, they really add to it!

Was thinking if i downloaded one of these freeware airports surely i would get the tree's you have there? http://www.fullterrain.com/freeware.html

You should keep at it anyway cause its looking great!

Although saying that i was tempted by ORBX England, but is it easy to add custom airports like Mildenhall?

Yes.....i'm still plugging away at it. The fences are taking a little longer than expected as my time is limited. The freeware airports from orbx tend to be mainly US and AU regions and the trees would not be there. The trees in the orbx eng package were designed for that region alone. Its a nice addition, not 100% accurate, but it feels more like the UK than default and even the horizon foto scenery with trees added.

Will put up some new shots soon

I have Just Flights VFR installed currently but was looking at pictures of ORBX and it did look amazing,

Did read that you have to turn it off or somthing if you fly anywhere other than UK!

Anyway back to your project, look forward to shots soon!

Cheers!

Work continues.......the groundsmen have gone on strike and the grass appears to be growing.........

The grass file will be removable to help with fps hit.

Thanks Chris,

The grass really does make this scenery jump out at you....but, there will be a fps hit with the amount of grass i'm starting to add in. For the people with high end rigs, maybe not so much of an issue, but i'm going to see if i can go thru the object files and change density settings a bit.

One last screen showing some more on a typical day at the hall....

Hey there Greg, yes the grass is from orbx and so far I have nearly all the taxi way areas planted up with not too noticeable hit on fps, credit really goes to how well orbx created there grass obj. files. Even have animated grass on top of those round hill things dotted around the airfield.

More screens to follow soon.

OK.....just wanted to put up some comparison shots with the basic Mildenhall, placed into fsx with the fs9 trees removed and then the same view with the new trees, grass(still wip), fences etc.

My fps do get a hit, but in fairness.....I'm running fsx with a whole load of other stuff in the background that will take a toll on the overall performance whilst taking these comparison shots.
Just noticed as well. i have a duplicate afcad somewhere in the mix as i have C-5's parking on-top of KC-10's.....so that would contribute towards the fps hit also.
Currently there are 10 separate bgls to help keep some of the files separate.....3 for trees, 2 for fences, 1 for cars, 2 for grass(may have to rethink the grass a little and change density options.....or redo it all in about 20 sep. bgl files) and 2 for ground and internal markings.
Obviously, as the objects i have used are basically all from orbx, this cannot be released publicly...i think, but for those who have orbx ftxuk, should be able to pm the bgl files.

Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply, the project is on hold for a little, my PC suffered a power failure that knocked out my graphics card. The files are safe and on an external drive and will continue in the new year with a completely new system.
