Greg - thanks for doing the testing that I should have done before I released the betas.

Will try to fix the errant children this week.

Gavin

PS - I haven't done anything to the beacons or Nav lights. Must be a P3D thing.

Thanks Gavin.

Just one more issue and then they're good to go for me: the clean drag chute models (both open and closed) show parts of the pilot when idle.

Yeah - that's the zombie pilot option - don't you like it :D

Sorry - don't know how I missed that - I did actually test them before sending the updated release out.

Belgian F-16 are actually passing throught paint job. They receive the same paint like F-16C, with only two grey (no more Orange Rescue marck... all in light grey on the biggest dark grey)

True, but the point of this topic is not to replace old paints. Only old models ;)

Ok, I think I finally killed off the zombie pilot.

Please try these models in Beta 2 Update 2

Hey Gavin

Do you have plans to convert more military aircraft to P4D? Like Nick's stuff? (assuming permission)
F18
B1

Etc?

THANKS

Hey Gavin, maybe this bit of info will help with your Flap compromise. The F-16 does not have a flap handle, they are computer controlled and monitor AOA. However, they always come down to the first notch when the pilot Drops the landing Gear. In summary, Gear Down=Flaps down.

Woogey - does that mean that the F-16s always taxi around with their flaps down? both for taxi out and taxi back? If so I can set the F-16Ds to behave like that. No way I am going back and re-building the entire F-16C fleet.

After all they are AI - You guys are supposed to be out there flying your aircraft, not loafing around the hanger doorways watching other people work.

LOL, I love your sense of humour, Gavin. The idea might catch on, but you can never tell.

On the F-16 I did find an illustration on f-16.net which shows the majority if not all the flap setting http://www.f-16.net/forum/download/file.php?id=22602. Now whether there is a ground/air mode switch for the flaps I haven't looked into it.

Now on the model conversion side of things Gavin is CONVERTING them not UPDATING them. From what little involvement I have been privvy to in this area it is difficult enough w/o going and investigating potential flaws and updates for each aircraft.

Hey Gavin,

You crack me up! To answer your question, Yes Flaps are ALWAYS down on the ground. The only caveat to this might be when in the maintenance hangar, the Mechs can bypass the systems to do what they need to do.

HI,
I learned some tricks doing the F-16Ds. If it isn't too much work I will update the F-16Cs to the standard of the D's and then upload. If it is too much trouble I will bundle the whole thing (Cs & Ds) together and upload.

F-16 flaps....

No power - Flaps 0, leading edge up -2
Power and weight on the wheels - Flaps down 20, leading edge up -2

Ignore previous....
From Mike and I's modelling of the MAIW F-16 ....

When gear is down....
Flaps 20, leading edge up -2

Gear up in climb...
Flaps 20, leading edge down 15

High speed cruise...
Flaps -2, leading edge up -2

Approach...
Flaps 20, leading edge down 15

Touchdown
Flaps 20, leading edge up -2

All done using XML. We just skipped the high speed cruise and used 0 and 0 for 'normal' cruising.

Thinking about it, an easier way (assuming FSX works the same as FS9)

There should already be an animation tag used for the front wheel ... c_gear
If you called the flaps
c_gear.flap_left
and
c_gear.flap_right

Then animate 0 to 20 degrees over 100 keyframes, then another keyframe at 200 also at 20 degrees, that should take care of the flaps.

Thanks Weescotty

Completely re-animating the flaps is outside the scope / my ability of what I can/will do.

I re-compiled the F-16Cs with the revised flap behaviour that I put into the F-16Ds. In summary,
cold and dark - flaps up,
taxi in/out - flaps deployed 1st notch
take off & climb - flaps deploy 1st notch, slats deploy
approach - flaps deploy gradually to full extension, slats deploy

I have bundled the revised Cs and the Ds into a single package and uploaded them to the hanger. They should be available soon.

thanks
Gavin
