F-111E

Post by f4nutter »

John, on painting one of your "c" model's i noticed a small mapping error (see pic), is this an easy fix or a major headache ?

That's a very nice repaint Ray. I couldn't spot the mapping error in the standard grey scheme until I saw it in your screen shot. I think this replacement model file should do the trick:

https://rapidshare.com/files/661338174/ ... te_FS9.zip

I'll correct any other models affected before I upload to flightsim.com.

WOW  John that was quick, and has done the job perfectly  .
there is a red line around the engine intake that re-appear in 2 or 3 small bits on the underside of the aircraft ?
would you like the texture to see for yourself John ?.

I'll pass on that one Ray if you don't mind. Ideally the texture sheet needed both the top and bottom surfaces drawing but there isn't room on the texture sheet to do that and keep a reasonable resolution without adding a second sheet. The top surfaces are mapped that way because they are more important, but the underside of the fuselage and intakes are mapped against the side on views. That's fine on the grey and camo models, but might cause a problem with a more intricate paint scheme. It's a compromise really - trying to get the best visual result while keeping the number of draw calls for an AI aircraft to a minimum.

Same for the underwing surfaces, of which there is only one; just getting the EF-111A done and thought "there isn't a star bar on the under wing"......no biggy, like Ray says, you won't miss it unless you're viewing from underneath. It's still a lovely model :D

Accused Ray : do you admit guilty for withholding other beautiful paints from the community by purpose?

Thanks a million for this and all the other ones, Ray :smt001
