Blackburn Buccaneer
Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
John we can get you sorted no problem. You need a multiple trigger script of which we have many that will work.
Instead of polluting this thread with XML scripts, send me a pm of what you need to animate and we probably already have a code worked out for it.

Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
A big thank you to Mike G who has enabled me to do something I have wanted to do for ages and that's to have a better option for canopy animation in FS9. Up until this model, I have just used a simple open/close triggered by the beacon light on/off, because I couldn't get anything more complex to work. Now I have the canopy closed when the aircraft is not in use, fully open when getting reading for departure/just returned and half open for taxi. Here's a shot at the runway hold with the canopy just about to close:
FSX doesn't work in the same way, but I think I can at least do the fresh air taxi option.
The LODs are all done, so now it's on to make the different Buccaneer variations for FS9 and FSX. 5 models I think, with some additional non-wing fold options:
- RAF Camo with slipper tanks and practice bomb carriers
- RAF Grey with 4 x Sea Eagles
- RAF Desert sand with Pave Spike, ALQ jammer, Sidewinder and 1 x slipper tank
- Royal Navy S2
- Royal Navy S1

Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
OMG that is so good. Its the best Bucc I've seen either as an AI or a flyable one. Really captures the look of her. Good work John.

Hi John.
Great job. Aircraft model, looks fantastic. Used to live near RAF Honington and spent many happy hours watching these beasts taking off and landing. Now history but this beauty for Retro has been long awaited.
Well done that man.
Very happy person.

John, what can I say? They look fantastic. I cannot speak for everyone, but this has got be one of the most anticipated AI models for a very long time. Thanks for your time.
Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
Just awesome.
With Stew's, Laarbruch, Dales's Lossie, we only need Honington to do it justice.
***EDIT***
I deliberately left off detachment bases like Deci, Gib.
Also I wasn't hinting at anybody to do anything, just making a statement.

Steve, are you aware of the UKMIL scenery for Honington?Firebird wrote:Just awesome.

Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
I confess that I wasn't. What is it like? FPS wise.

Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
If it's the Honnington I'm thinking about, it's not too frame rate friendly and being close to Lakenheath and Marham doesn't help. I could do with a test AFCAD though for one of the bases. I'll set up a traffic file for all the Buccs for people to have a play with when ready if someone could let me have a file for them to park.

Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
To be honest I haven't been there for a while, but from what I remember, it's not too bad even on a steam-driven machine like mine, and that is with both Tornado units there......I shall go have a quick peek and let you know
Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
Just got hits of between 18-28 fps, more towards 28 though, and my machine is AMD Sempron 3400+ 2 GB processor with 1.5 GB RAM and a Nvidia GeForce 8400GS 512mb video card.....
Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
Sounds a little bit heavy, but it definitely beats a bare afcad in a field. I shall have to give it a looksie in prep for the arrival of the Buccs.

I like the scenery, runs fine on my machine, I have all the TWCU Tonkas there.Firebird wrote:Sounds a little bit heavy, but it definitely beats a bare afcad in a field. I shall have to give it a looksie in prep for the arrival of the Buccs.

Re: Blackburn Buccaneer
Thanks for that, Mark.
Looking at the pics on flightsim.com it seems a decent looking scenery. It just might not be as efficient as the latest techniques used these days but usable.
