Scampton's Tin Triangle

Post by DaleRFU »

Big thanks to John for making such a great AI model, it has really filled a gap in the AI world. I have chosen 1981 for the paints as that is the year I have most of the photo's from. Now, some of the aircraft that were at Scampton in 1981 were at waddington in 1982 as shown in John's package so to prevent a conflict so that you don't have the same aircraft but at different stations, I have painted the Waddington Vulcan's from 1981 as well. I have also made a basic AFD for Scampton from the period. I will upload to flightsim soon. Hope you all enjoy

Wonderful retro textures!
Where I can get scenery for RAF Scampton?
The one in Flightsim has AI altitude problems even with the available fix. :(
Are there FP available?
Thank you!

I will be uploading an AFD from the vulcan era that isn't perfect but does the trick. As for flightplans I don't actually have any yet
Once I get round to them then I will add them somewhere

Yes BT, I have the Vulcan era version installed. Looks good and altitude probs seem to be solved in FS9

Wow, I built that 10 years ago. Uses Novasim and Airport for Windows for the design.

I used that scenery way back in FS8 John, and it is just as good now, as it was then. Anything that adds to default settings has got to be good.

I found the read me from Johns Scampton Scenery. Here is the list of which files contain what. Could be useful for anyone who needs to modify the scenery, such as removing the static vulcans.

Scampton_1.bgl The runway, taxiways and all ground polygons (essential)
Scampton_2.bgl The 4 main hangers (highly desirable)
Scampton_3.bgl The control tower and fire station (highly desirable)
Scampton_4.bgl The Vulcan operations complex (optional)
Scampton_5.bgl The disused weapons store and fuel mound (optional)
Scampton_6.bgl Miscellaneous airfield buildings (optional)
Scampton_7.bgl Residential housing/married quarters (optional)
Scampton_8.bgl Station buildings in front of the 4 main hangars (optional)
Scampton_9.bgl Visible runway Nav aids (optional)
Scampton_10.bgl Trees (optional)
Scampton_11.bgl Static C130 and Gnat (optional)
Scampton_12.bgl Vehicles (optional)
Scampton_13.bgl The Red Arrows Flight Line (optional)
FINLIN1.Bgl and FINLIN2.Bgl Lincoln Cathedral and Power Stations by David Howarth (optional)

VULCAN ERA
Place the .BGL files in the Vulcan folder in your Scampton\scenery folder and remove Scampton_11.bgl, Scampton_12.bgl and Scampton_13.bgl.
The static Vulcan files are unique and will not overwrite any other. They are parked on the following dispersals:
Scampton_20A.bgl Alpha dispersal
Scampton_20B.bgl Bravo dispersal
Scampton_20C.bgl Charlie dispersal
Scampton_20D.bgl Delta dispersal
Scampton_20E.bgl Echo dispersal
Scampton_20F.bgl Foxtrot dispersal
Scampton_20Q.bgl Quick Reaction Alert pans at the runway 23 threshold.

The textures for the Vulcans are already in the "modern day" texture folder and no action is required.
