Re: MBAI SR-71 Blackbird
How long have I waited for this sight. If i remember correctly asking for the blackbird must have been one of my first posts here at MAIW
I am sure Kevin will answer all Xml questions you can think of.

Great to see you making progress Menno! As written your code will not do anything.Fokket50 wrote: <part>

For starters we need to know the two animation key frame positions for the inlet spikes. When they are fully forward, have you animated them to key frame 0 by chance? If so that's a starting point and then we need to know what your ending point is.
With the starting and ending key frame animations, we can write a script that will output a result that will give you a value between your starting point and ending point which will tell the sim how to animate those parts.
Keep in mind that you may not be able to get an AI model to go that fast in game. Mike MacIntyre would be the person to ask about that. There is also a limit to how high the model can actually go in game. Better to figure those things out now than before you animate parts that may or may not work.

Re: MBAI SR-71 Blackbird
Key frame 0 is when the inlet is fully forward. Fully aft position is at 100, with no other frames in between. But this can be changed easlily. I do not know if MACH is a good condition for the code, maybe it should be groundspeed or airspeed in knots?
Steve is helping with the fde, and he has the bird go up to flightlevel 800, and it goes pretty fast.

Since Steve (Firebird) seems to already have a jump on this, I think I will defer to him relative to the creation of an MBAI SR-71 Blackbird FDE.Firebird wrote:As it happens I was working on an SR-71 fde, for the Alphasim AI one, before my 'puter went away. I got it to go M3.2+ at FL750.
I hope to have it back within the next few weeks so if you can wait for then you are welcome to use it but if you want to go with Mike from scratch that is fine, just let me know.

Re: MBAI SR-71 Blackbird
SR-71 landing at RAF Mildenhall in the late 80's...
We sat waiting for around 15 minutes and i noticed the sun setting, the SR then flew out to the West for an approach to Rwy 11, I quickly dug my Olympus OM-20 and stuck a 400mm lens on and turned around just in time to get the shot.... which was nice!
The aircrat went out following three KC-135Q's so was due for a long flight, but soon after take off it re-appeared overhead dumping fuel, we we're about to leave but put the scanner back on the hear the pilot reporting problems and dumping fuel for an emergency landing..We sat waiting for around 15 minutes and i noticed the sun setting, the SR then flew out to the West for an approach to Rwy 11, I quickly dug my Olympus OM-20 and stuck a 400mm lens on and turned around just in time to get the shot.... which was nice!
Time travel does exist, i just discovered it next week...

Re: MBAI SR-71 Blackbird
It took some time, but finally my first model is ready for release.
I am preparing it for the release, the only thing left to do is the documentation.
I am trying to upload it this weekend on both AVSIM and Flightim.com.
There will be models for the SR71 (A,B and C models as well as the experimental long tail), the A-12 (A and B), and the YF-12, all have individual textures, including different tail art.
And for the SR-71's, there will be flightplans based on airports that have been actual visited by this aircraft during the years. And offcourse some voicemods for the callsigns.
Here are some screenshots for the moment:
Here is one with 2 of the YF-12's
Depending on the Mach number, the engine cones will move back, and the tertiary doors at the engine exhaust will close

It won't be long now. Right at the last minute we had an idea to alter a feature, but this has now been done.

Very nice, love the afterburners. I remember doing some Blackbird start cars and an engine on a trolley some years back. I'll have to dig them out.
