Retro USAF Bases

Post by ruggerfan »

OK folks, first off I'm not Stewart! That being said I will be releasing 4 FSX sceneries of USAF bases in the 1960's. One of these will be a base that was started and never completed. They are:

RJTC Tachikawa: A base east of Yokota, that was home to the 1503rd ATW(H) flying C-124 and C-97 aircraft. I also added a ARRS detachment to the east side of the field.
There was some liberties taken as my memory of the area from the mid-70's is a little vague. The runway was lengthen to the proper distance, and the
parking. The Air freight unit is just south of the large ramp. This is to complement the Vietnam War Project. Oh, BTW, I was nice enough to omit the
tower built by the locals at the end of the runway after a fatal C-124 crash.

KTUR Turner AFB Albany Ga. Home of the 484th BW (H) a B-52D/KC-135 unit Also home to the 1370th PMW (Photo Mapping Wing) and their RB-50 and H-21 helo's. Later
it became NAS Albany home to the Navy's RECONATKWING ONE with their RA-5C Vigilantes.

KGYH Donaldson AFB Greenville SC. Home of the 63rd TCW and their C-124C aircraft (side note: the 63rd later became the 63rd MAW after moves to Hunter AFB and finally
to Norton AFB. I also included the 443rd TCW (C-119) an Air Force Reserve wing to help fill out the field.

KBON RI Bong AFB. Brighton Wi. This base was started but never completed. Was originally to be the home of the USAF Academy. Later it was designated to be a ADC
base for the MIlwaukee-Chicago area. The 56th FIG was to be the home unit. SAC later claimed the base for a future B-58/KC-97
base. The base design is from maps of the area, and a walk around by myself.

I hope you all will enjoy these, screen pics to follow soon....
