Already resolved - Effects: Massive help needed with a time duration issue....

Post by Manschy »

Hi,

almost packed my RAF Brüggen package, but still found a real strange problem inside one of my animations.

So this question(s) go to the aircraft developers but used for the scenery, because I need help for a time duration problem I can't solve by myself. It is a matter of an afterburner effect which has to be shown within a special timescale, but I am not able to crack this nut. I know about all your skills especially regarding creating and changing afterburner effects.

To make it more easy for all details, I would like to set a link to my FSDeveloper thread for better understanding if you approved of it...

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threa ... on.451494/

Thank you very much in advance for all solution approaches...

I checked the thread and the last reply is spot on. Extrude is nothing to do with time it is length of the effect and I have never got it to work with burners. They would be a lot smaller and simpler if they did.

The two key parms are the Delay in the Emitter and the Lifetime in the Particle sections
The delay says how long after loading that the effect kicks in and the lifetime parm says how long the effect lasts.

Thank you, Steve.

Hmm - I fiddle around with the lifetime parameter, but all I got was the effect light getting bigger and bigger.
I am too stupid apparently to simply build an effect that shows a (afterburner)light, starting at 28 seconds and disappear 20 seconds later....
Anyway, I will do some more experiments with the lifetime parm :smt001

Manfred the Stupid replies....

After reading Mike's (Bushpilot) post with the corrections in red, the scales fell from my eyes!!!!
I always changed the Emitter Lifetime instead of the Particles Lifetime as you were right as well! How stupid!
Now after carry out all your instructions, it works!
Thanks too at this place, Steve.
Regards, Manfred.
