Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
The part between the engine and the gearbox doesn't look right in your model Kev. This is the real thing and the way I have made it:
My engine and gearbox could probably do with more polygons to make them rounder, but I've spent 3 hours changing them over to the new support configuration through the LODs in the 3 FS9 models. I don't really want to go through that again. I'll have another look though for FSX and P3D and maybe come back to FS9 after I've changed those.

Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
A few more polygons help I think Kev:
PS: Making the cabin/boom joint circular also helps the "dustbin" shape too.

Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
This looks much better now. Did you manage to curve the shape of tail section even more?
Edit:
Sorry I just noticed P.S.

Yes Miljan, I made the cabin/boom joint behind the "dustbin" more circular:
I really wish I had some cross sections on the plans, but alas I haven't.

Looks better.
The tail is a tapered cylinder with a circular cross section.
Stil think the stbd and port engine covers are not quite right looking at the pic above. I dont remember the transition from the curved to straight being that pronounced.
Only otherthings I have noticed...
The 'box' on the bottom is the radio altimeter panels, I think its a little wide (left to right).

The other is texture thing -
I guess you have used the same location for the part just forward of the engine intake?
The std side has the filler and oil level sight glasses.
The port has just an Astazou label.

Just realised, there were two different IRCM exhaust fits...
The one that goes down to the tail (most pics you find).
The first version that only covered the exhaust..

Was replaced with the 'full' one because is caused a lot of cracking.

Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
FINALLY - Found a pic from the rear showing the rad alt width...
Also not a bad view of the cross section around the tail / fuselage join etc, also the smoother engine cowlings.

Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
Thanks Kev,
Changing the engine covers again would mean a fourth sortie through the first 4 LODs of 7 models = 28 changes. It's getting like Groundhog Day - a cycle like that takes about 3 hours. I'm trying to follow the 3-view plans I have but I have no cross sections. I'll have a break from them for now while I continue with the SOKO weaponry and do another engine cycle with the reduced width Rad Alt box after that. Textures I can change easily however because they have not yet been numbered up.
I'm not sure about the need to make all the early retro models, but I will include the variant with the upturned exhaust and the Nightsun.

Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
These are the SOKO variants with just a temporary base texture applied, prior to delivery to Miljan who will be taking on the painting and set up. There are 4 models:
- 4 Gama Missiles
- Gama missile racks only
- Hera (observation)
- Utility
I've remade the engine gearbox covers to give a more gentle curve on the rear edges and will be applying that to the previous models:
Next job for me is to make the French examples.

Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
Looking really good. They had six major servicing lines doing Gazelle's when I was doing Hawk T1 major servicing at Boscombe Down in 2017.I remember how flimsy and thin skinned they seem to have been. Keep up the great work.

These look really great. The attention to detail and accuracy is amazing. You really set the standard for AI models.

Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
Are you missing the rotor disk Miljan, or is it just the angle of the shot?

Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
These are the last of the Gazelle models I am planning, all of them French. There are 4 variations and when I get to that stage, there will be 40 paints to go with them. At the moment the camo examples are all carrying the same code:
Recce:
Viviane + HOT missile tubes:
Viviane + empty HOT missile racks:
I couldn't resist the Tiger schemes and so painted those for the last 4 years of the meets:
2019:
2018:
2017:
2016:
I'll also provide plain camo textures if users don't want to use the whole streak/ambush (the collective noun for tigers apparently).
I want to have a go next at some helicopter overlays for Middle Wallop, Shawbury, Culdrose and the 4 French bases. I'll then duplicate and number up all the examples and get them into flight plans.

Re: Aerospatiale Gazelle
Great realisation. Thanks for that.
For the French is it possible to envisage de Canon version (one 20mm canon on right side) ? (Still in use)
Here is a pic of this model :
