JYAI Gloster Meteors
Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
Great new package John! Followed your instructions, but have no hangers now! Everything else is fine, anyone else had this problem in FS9?

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
Sorry Dave, don't remove MAIY_15.bgl. It draws the hangars! I've corrected the manual and I'll ask Steve if he wouldn't mind swapping the file in each zip.

Very nice one, John. Hopefully I can find my FlightSim computer anytime soon.

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
The final Meteor package, at least for now, features the Gloster Meteor NF-11’s and associated scenery of RAF Ahlhorn, Germany, built from scratch by Tim Collins. It is for FSX and P3D, but because of the complexity of the scenery models, it will not be made available for FS9. Sorry about that.
The scenery depicts the airfield as it was when occupied by the RAF between 1951 and 1958, as best as can be established. Photo evidence of those days is thin on the ground, and a great deal of the site (particularly in the Kasinowald north of the main runway) was redeveloped before the advent of Google Earth, so some of what has been depicted is speculative and a good deal of what was there may be missing.
Also included is a less detailed scenery of RAF Oldenburg (ETNO), about 17 nautical miles north of Ahlhorn, which is used as a destination for some of the Meteor traffic.
The package was been sent for inclusion in the Download Hangar this morning, but as always, please allow time for it to be made available.

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
What a pity, FSX only? The airfields would not be a problem for me as a strictly FS9 enthusiast, but the NF11s. I have yet not tried, so I like to ask: do the NF11 function in FS9, probably not. Can they be transformed into FS9 applications (.dds isn't a problem for me but model and airfile certainly will be). Would you produce a FS9 version of this Meteor type?. Anaway , thank you once again for your wonderful work and effort.
Cheers

A approve. Just the NF-11 model for FS9 will be enough.essub wrote: ↑20 Nov 2021, 14:57 What a pity, FSX only? The airfields would not be a problem for me as a strictly FS9 enthusiast, but the NF11s. Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
I can't speak for John re the aircraft, but the airfields (ETNA and ETNO) don't exist in FS9 or FSX, so you'd need to reformat my airfields. That's fine, and ETNO is populated purely by MAIW library objects so you'll have no problem activating that, but ETNA is predominantly custom scenery which was difficult enough to make compatible with FSX, so I drew the line at FS9!
Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
Thank you for your answers. Simply by looking on your screenshots I can imagine what effort it has been to do it in FSX. Long time ago there was a file EGWZ including a very rough ETNA. So years ago I have made my own ETNA using the layout of the airfield as presented within the EGWZ file I found before. My ETNA version is far from perfect - I used ADE for the layout and applied standard objects to populate it with buildings, vehicles and the like. May be I will redo it from zero with custom built buildings. ETNO I will do anyway on my own. So for me NF11 model for FS9 would be very fine for me. There are still some dinosaurs like me around praising FS9. Again, thanks a lot.
Greetings
Kalle

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
I do have the NF-11's in FS9 code and I could upload them as aircraft only. I didn't see the point really because there is no 1950's Ahlhorn scenery that I know of to accommodate them.
Kalle, If you would like to share your ETNA, assuming it's of the right vintage and you have any permissions needed to do that, I'll make the FS9 NF-11's and a traffic file available. The scenery should not have the much later hardened aircraft shelters present.

For the FS9 NF-11I'll use it on my FS9 EBCV and EBFN sceneries. I'll try to repaint it in belgian scheme.

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
No problem, I have assembled an FS9 aircraft only zip that contains the NF-11 model in that format and the 11 paints for each of the Ahlhorn squadrons for users to do with as they wish.
I have sent the package for inclusion in the Download Hanger, once it has been processed.
I'm not intending to produce any more Meteors, but I'll see if I can produce a paint kit for all the types so far released.

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
It's taken me 3 hours so far to save 4 Meteor Paint Shop Pro (.psp) files as Photoshop (.psd) files!
Paint Shop Pro does not have backward compatibility, so painters would need to have PSP Pro 2020 or later to read my source files. Most layered graphics programs will open a .psd file however, hence the need to save them for the paint kit in that format for flexibility.
I've reduced the layers down to the minimum, removed layer groups and converted vector layers to raster. The files convert, but some of the layers distort, as in this screen shot of the NF-14 paint. I have though manged to get a coherent F-9, T-7 and NF-11 .psd file after a lot of hassle. I did that by placing a narrow grey border around the very outside of each layer, so the image has pixels right out to the edges. I also needed to copy some layers into new layers, but that just isn't working for the NF-14 file:
Does anyone know why Paint Shop Pro behaves like this when converting to .psd and what it is I can do to get a successful file "save as" please. Failing that, I'll have to omit the NF-14 file from the paint kit.

Great thanks for this FS9 model.

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
Strange, I have PaintShop Pro X9 and save my layered files as .pspimage. I never encountered issues with .pspimage to .psd conversion.

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
Yep, I used to use X9 with no problems at all saving to .psd. I could also close the program and open it again, without first having to kill the process in Task Manager. That seems to be a common problem.

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
Wow, that issue with your PSP version seems to be a massive one there, John.
I understand why companies want to dump legacy code but they don't help people making a choice to upgrade.
