Great package, thanks for all the work here.

I do not see any RAAF FA-18 or Growler models in this package. are they being done?

The RAAF models were not part of the MAIW packages which I converted and they are not on my to do list at this time. Are the Australian Hornets visually significantly different from the standard USN or Finnish models?

I'm not sure. I'll check them out and see if I can use the models you have already converted. I wouldn't imagine the differences would be that significant.

Graham, I compared the standard A/B with the RAAF models from the Tindall pack: RAAF models have IFF bird slicers and use a different texture mapping. The texture mapping is a problem, the RAAF textures do not fit with the standard FSX/P3D A/B models. The RAAF models have been modded by Andrew Hall, I guess that is why we did not convert them, I do not know if we have Andrew's permission.

That’s a pity re the texture mapping. I’ll send a note to Andrew and see if he is happy for me to convert them.

I’ve completed the Pilatus PC-9 and PC-21 models and passed them on to Gavin if you guys are interested. They were a challenge but I think the FA-18’s may take it up a notch.

Your Pilatus conversions are in internal testing and packaging, Graham. Many thanks for offering them to us!

The RAAF Hornets are not included in this batch indeed, but only Martin knows why. We did get permission from Andrew to convert his other models but I don't see the GAI/NBAI F-18 on Martin's list. We'll have to wait until he sheds some light onto this.

For some reason the gear parts for the RAAF Hornets are not showing in MCX. The parts are listed in the Animation Editor but not visible in the model, not even in the Wire Render Mode. If I compile the model the newly compiled model does not have these parts at all.

Was this a problem for the initial conversion of the Hornet models?

I've managed to fully convert the first of the RAAF FA-18 Hornets and the original animations and visibility options are all working fine. I'll proceed to do the rest of the variations for this model over the next week or so.

If you guys can obtain the appropriate permissions for distribution, I'll upload the total set of models to here when I'm finished.

Thanks for taking up the project to include RAAF models. Along with the converted C-130 and Hawk and John's P-8 and Wedgetail models, we're starting to see a nice representation of what has become a formidable air force...

Henk, would you be able to share your Modeldef file please. I'm getting a few errors popping up with mine so my xml codes are not as P3D V4 friendly as yours. It would also be better if we had the same coding for each of the actions/visibility conditions.

Graham, FYI my standard (non folding wings) NBAI Hornet ModelDef.xml.

BTW: If you import one of the Hornet models I converted in the latest MCX dev release, you can extract the xml tags directly from the model using the "Show ModelDef.xml" button. With the MCX Animation Editor and Hierarchy Editor you can inspect which parts use which tags.

Thanks for that Henk. Will check that out tomorrow. Had a frustrating day with this project today. I'm sure I'm going through the hair pulling time that you most likely went through with this exercise. The good news is I have a lot of ground work sorted now so it should only take about 30 to 50 minutes to do each of the variations from here.

Great to see you talking. I just suggested that via mail regarding the afterburner. By the way.... the reason I missed this model is the different air file name.

I am just getting around to install these Hornets into my P3D. In the folder Docu there is a readme file that has lights sections. Are those lights sections for P3D or FSX? Here are the entries

A/B/C/D/Finnish:
[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 3, 0, 0, 0, fx_f16_navgrem //required to enable bcn/strb
light.1 = 1, -23.77, -5.60, 7.95, fx_beacon
light.2 = 1, -23.74, 5.60, 7.95, fx_beacon

Super Hornets/Growler:
[lights]
light.0 = 3, 0, 0, 0, fx_f16_navgrem //required to enable beacons
light.1 = 1, -21.35, -5.95, 8.65, fx_beacon
light.2 = 1, -21.32, 5.95, 8.65, fx_beacon

Joseph29: The docu readme file contains notes I made for the conversion team, ignore it please. Just use the lines in the Aircraft.cfg files which are included in the converted package.
BTW: I see the docu readme is an older version, the correct lines in the Aircraft.cfg should be:

A/B/C/D/Finnish:
[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 3, 0, 0, 0, fx_dummy //required to enable bcn/strb
light.1 = 1, -23.77, -5.60, 7.95, fx_beacon
light.2 = 1, -23.74, 5.60, 7.95, fx_beacon

Super Hornets/Growler:
[lights]
light.0 = 3, 0, 0, 0, fx_dummy //required to enable bcn/strb
light.1 = 1, -21.35, -5.95, 8.65, fx_beacon
light.2 = 1, -21.32, 5.95, 8.65, fx_beacon
