Something went wrong while installing Global Libraries

Post by Trevytt2004 »

Hey there,

Trying to install Matrix and getting something went wrong while installing global libraries please try again or contact the forums.

I'm installing the actual matrix app to the c: as I don't have an additional drive handy. the app installs fine...I select the folder to install the global objects...it downloads fine and then unpacks...at the end the error appears.

anyone else seen this issue?

Regards

It sounds like a permission error. Your account is probably not authorised to write directly to your C:\ root.

I will push an update tomorrow to help with error logging so you get a better idea of what goes wrong, together with another fix for when you select a drive root.

My virus scanner (Bitdefender) went apoplectic with the Matrix installer.

It didn't like the .exe file and when I downloaded the global libraries it fails in the same way as yours with the virus scanner complaining about (and removing) a bunch of dds files having viruses (it appeared to be detecting them in a temporary directory).

I disabled it and everything worked fine...

The files are indeed first placed in your Windows temp directory before being moved. That's how any unzipper works. But no idea why Bitdefender doesn't like them. I can assure you we don't add any spyware to our textures. ;)

Have installed latest Matrix, but still not able to install Global Libraries. Most frustrating.

Where were you trying to install to?
I guess what I am trying to work out is whether either or the case mentioned in this thread apply in your case.

Pete, could you please go to your %LOCALAPPDATA%\Military_AI_Works folder and see if there's a "Logs" folder with an error log for your issue? If so, please attach it here or send it to greg at militaryaiworks dot com.

I had a similar problem in that the app froze after downloading, unpacking and installing the updates. I seem to have solved it by uninstalling the installed regions, then the Global Library, then installing them from scratch. I also have no logs in LocalAppData (Win10 v 1803).

Hi Tim,

A few questions:
  1. Can you remember which update it was exactly?
  2. Can you remember at which step Matrix "froze"? The update steps are:
    • Removing files...
    • Done!
    • Downloading update...
    • Done!
    • Unpacking update...
    • Done!
    • "Success! (region) is updated." or an error in which case there should be an error log, so I suppose you never got to this step
Thanks
