North American Region uninstall error

Post by smaunder »

I am going to move my installation, and so was uninstalling all installed regions. All uninstalled fine except for North America, which gives the following error

Something went wrong while uninstalling MAIW Region North America. Please try again or contact us on our forums.

I have tried several times, but get the same error message, so I am now contacting the forum.

Any help would be appreciated.

Steven.

Sounds like some files are locked by Windows. Could you try again after a computer restart and make sure you have no Explorer windows open?

If that doesn't work, please send me the log file in %localappdata%\Military_AI_Works\Logs if there is one.

Steven,

I had a look at your log and config files but couldn't find any issues. While I investigate this further, follow these steps to remove North America manually:
  1. Open the user.config file and look for the following section. Change the value from True to False, save and close the file. Start Matrix again and verify that North America is now marked as uninstalled.

    Code: Select all

    <setting name="IsInstalledRegionNA" serializeAs="String">
    <value>True</value>
  2. Go to "Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons" and remove the folder "MAIW Region North America".
  3. Go to your region installation folder and remove the folder "MAIW_NA".
Let me know if you encounter any issues.

Same problem here. Trying a reinstall after updating P3Dv4, but NA is being recalcitrant!

Does the same fix, above, work for you as well?

Not really a fix. Just doing manually what Matrix should do automatically for you. Let's call it a workaround... ;)
