CYOB Cold Lake Scenery Problem

Post by jpf813 »

Hello,

Just wanted to make you aware of the scenery problem at Cold Lake, noticed this on the runway, all the signs are out of place.

Does Orbx have something to do with this?

Hopefully we can get it corrected.

Thanks!

Jon

If you Orbx installed and they have some scenery for Cold Lake then yes that is the issue.

Generally speaking you can't mix and match sceneries at one location. You can have one or the other.

I don't think its an Orbx problem as they have no product anywhere near CYOD. Are you sure you don't have another scenery for Cold Lake on your system ??

You can disable the ORBX scenery as follows;

Search the ORBX folder in FSX or P3D for CYOD. Rename the following files;

ADE_FTX_FTXG_CYOD.bgl
ADE_FTX_FTXG_CYOD_CVX.bgl
FTX_FTXG_CYOD_objects.bgl

I rename them by changing the .bgl extension to .old, or you can use .off as well. This effectively disables that portion of the scenery without losing or deleting the file. To get it back if you want to in the future, just rename the extension back to .bgl.

There is also the Airport Background or ABP file. I chose to leave mine as is, but can be disabled as above if required.

ORBX's file structure is the same for all their airports, so this works as well for other airports where you can see some of the generic ORBX stuff sticking through your more detailed and custom scenery.

Cheers!

I found it. Its actually in the (Free) Global Airports package. Have just downloaded it & now have nearly 100 airports to check to see which ones I want to use.
