Wrong MDL reference for E-3C

Post by RKE »

Don't know if it's the case in the standalone version as well, but in the Matrix install, the model.cfg in MAIW_EAI_E-3C is calling the wrong .mdl file.

Re: Wrong MDL reference for E-3C

I just checked the original FS9 packages and compared that with the standalone version:

USAF E3A Component (WOAMIL10) has two models:

Model.JE3C -> 1 texture --> ok
Model.E3A -> 31 textures --> ok

USAF Tinker AFB E-6B (WOAMIL06) has one model:

Model -> 16 textures --> nok (we somehow missed both the model and the textures)

MAIW NATO Sentrys has one model:

Model.E3A -> 17 textures --> ok

maiw_saudi_e3 has six models:

Model.E3S -> 5 textures --> ok
Model.KE-3A -> 4 textures --> ok
Model.KE-3A_NDA -> 1 texture --> ok
Model.KE-3A_NDB -> 1 texture --> ok
Model.KE-3A_NDP -> 1 texture --> ok
Model.RE-3A -> 1 texture --> ok

So while I absolutely agree that we missed one model and related paints, I cannot see where the wrong model is called. I use Matrix but not the aircraft in order to allow retro, therefore I cannot comment on how it looks there.
Cheers,
Martin

Wrong MDL reference for E-3C

Post by gsnde »

Now I am confused.

WOAMIL05 (the 5th package) are the Italian Tornados, and the E3 Components package is WOAMIL10 which we have converted and which is calling the right models.

The one model mentioned above which is in fact missing has already been converted by Gavin. I will make a fix to the package tomorrow with the new model and textures.

Martin

Sorry I tried not to confuse you.
I used the number system on your own website.

That is funny, Steve! :-) I should do more with that one anyway.

But to sum it up:

The Tinker package and model is missing and will be added. Aside from that I don't see wrongly assigned models or any other model missing. Again, I am not talking about Matrix but the full conversion pack.

Do you see it like this, too?

From mobile hence short

I can't tell if there is a problem with Tinker or not.

As i see the issue is that the model.cfg for the JE-3C is not calling the correct mdl since the conversion. My guess is that the mdl might have been renamed in the conversion process but the model.cfg not altered.

Now the penny drops....

I checked the package in AIAE yesterday and I think it would have told me. But I will have a look this evening and confirm if that is the case.

The Tinker problem is surely around for everybody. I plainly missed that one.

If it is of any use I checked the standalone package and the model,cfg is correct for the JE-3C but the mdl name has changed so it could be an issue only within the Matrix package but that I can't check.

*UPDATE*
I lied - I can check.
Even though I don't have P3D you can still install all of the Matrix parts, and I found that the model.cfg for the JE-3C has indeed not been altered like the standalone package one has.

Martin,

The Tinker E-6B model and 16 textures are in the standalone package. Not sure why you're not seeing it.

As for Matrix, that was a whole lot of work just to come to the same conclusion RKE already made. ;) It's just an error in the model.cfg by yours truly and is being fixed.

You're looking for E-6es in the E-3 aircraft folder. They are in "MAIW EAI Boeing E-6 Mercury (P3D)"

I stand corrected. All these bloody models share the same e3f.air file and on that I had based my search.
So for the standalone package everything is right, no update needed and I go back to sleep.

Apologies for the disturbance I've caused, Martin :P

To be honest, I wasn't even sure I had imagined it or not, as I fixed it as soon as I spotted it, before proceeding on my merry way deleting duplicate fltsim entries from my homebrew conversions :oops:
