Parking Disaster at Hickam AFB

Post by jpf813 »

Hello All,

So at the default P3DV4 PHNL/Hickam AFB the MIAW planes are all over the place!

Some of the tankers and cargo are at the gates and some of the fighters are in the freight areas.

Also, I have found some decent freeware for PHNL but nothing for Hickam, any ideas?

Hopefully we can get the parking situation figured out.

Thanks,

Jon

This sounds like the aircraft parking codes are not linked up with the afcad.
Does anybody else have this issue?

There is no AFCAD. So there is no issue.

I'm sorry but that's not something "we" have to figure out.

There are more than 23000 default airfields in P3Dv4 where traffic will never be optimally parked, if there is parking at all. The default AFD files don't contain any parking codes and at mixed civmil aerodromes often no military parking spots.

The only way to make sure traffic parks where it should is with a custom AFD file, but I have hundreds of those to make P3Dv4 compatible and yes PHNL is one of them but going through all of them is a slow process. As I wrote in another thread only a couple of days ago, priority right now is on converting the aircraft models.

In the meantime, there are two things you can do:
  1. Uninstall the Matrix regions. No traffic, no issues.
  2. Download and install Airport Design Editor, read the User Manual and spend your next weekends on making a realistic AFD file for PHNL with correct gate and parking assignments. If you choose this path, please let us know when you're ready and I'd be happy to include your AFD file in Matrix North America :smt023

Or you could download the Robert Catherall PHNL file "phnl_p3dv4_rwc.zip" and then add all the required military parking using the original MAIW FS9 AFCAD as a template. If you are feeling really confident you could then publish it so we can all have a copy.

+1 for learning how to use ADE, it's a fantastic program. Make the traffic park where "you" want, it's really as simple as that!
