Brian Clarke's Scenries

Post by jpf813 »

Are their any plans to convert Brian Clarke's packages to the matrix?

He is making all of these high quality bases but its only for FS9!

Hopefully in the future, we can enjoy his in Prepar.

Thanks,

Jon

It's definitely something I'd like to do at some point.

That being said, if anyone did the conversion already and if Brian agrees I'd be happy to include the files in the next updates.

The problem might be with the third party libraries that Brian has used quite extensively. Some are now included in the MAIW Object Libraries, but there are probably some that are not. We won't necessarily have permission to convert those unfortunately. There's a few objects I made for Brian, but feel free to convert those.

If somebody could tell me which libraries we are talking about - I was busy bringing in approvals to convert and use many libraries.

Only two are not converted, I can do that if needed.

MCD was always explicitly forbidden to be included

MAIW ATSUGI OBJECT LIBRARY --> Matrix: Atsugi_Object_Library_P3D.BGL
MAIW EGXC OBJECT LIBRARY MAIW RAF Coningsby v1 --> Matrix: n/a, I can convert that for you
MAIW BEAUFORT OBJECTS LIBRARY --> Matrix: Beaufort_Object_Library_FSX.BGL
MAIW ABO LIB OBJECTS All MAIW packages --> Matrix: MAIW_ABO_P3D.BGL
MAIW GGSE OBJECTS LIBRARY Most US packages --> Matrix: GGSE_FSX.BGL
MAIW BRITISH MILTARY VEHICLES LIBRARY Most UK packages --> Matrix: MAIW_British_Military_Vehicles_ Library_FSX.BGL
MAIW CZECH OBJECTS LIBRARY Czech Gripens --> Matrix: MAIW_Czech_Objects_Library_FSX.BGL
MAIW RAF DOMESTIC BUILDINGS LIBRARY Most UK packages --> Matrix: MAIW_RAF_Domestic_Buildings_Library_FSX.BGL
MAIW TECHNICAL BUILDINGS LIBRARY Most UK packages --> Matrix: MAIW_RAF_Technical_Buildings_Library_FSX.BGL
MAIW RAF HANGARS OBJECTS LIBRARY Most UK packages --> Matrix: MAIW_RAF_Hangers_Library_FSX.BGL
MAIW CARGO OBJECTS LIBRARY Most US packages --> Matrix: MAIW_Cargo_FSX.BGL
MAIW MIRAGE F1 OBJECTS LIBRARY French Mirage packages --> Matrix: MAIW_MirageF1_Objects_Library_FSX.BGL
MAIW FENCE JS.BGL LIBRARY Most MAIW packages --> Matrix: Fence_JS_FSX.BGL
MAIW EGNB OBJECTS LIBRARY UK Hawks --> Matrix: n/a, I can convert that for you
MCD MILITARY OBJECTS LIBRARY Most US packages --> don't think Michael Carr has ever given the approval to include this
MG ADF 40F TRUCKS OBJECTS LIBRARY RAAF packages --> Matrix: MG_ADF_40ft_Trucks_FSX.BGL
MG BODY TRUCKS COLLECTION OBJECTS LIBRARY RAAF packages --> Matrix: MG_BodyTrucks_Collection_FSX.BGL
MG MAN TRUCKS OBJECTS LIBRARY RAAF packages --> Matrix: MG_MAN_Trucks_FSX.BGL
RAF GSE 1980’S BGL LIBRARY Most RAF packages --> Matrix: raf_gse_1980s_FSX.BGL
OBJLIB-MBC-STUDIOS-FS9 OBJECTS LIBRARY --> approved by me to include
PARKING LOTS LARGE SS BGL OBJECTS LIBRARY --> Sidney Schwarz will approve if I ask
Cheers,

No, there isn't, nor is there likely to be for Ian's version.

Hi Martin
Not sure as yet but any FSX conversions you have you could drop them in my folder on the FTP if you use it.
That would be most helpful.
The Atsugi one is one I can remember though.

Cheers

Martin,

I'm also interested in those library objects for P3D.

When you say "You can download them with Greg's Matrix tool", how does this work please? I'm not a Matrix user, but I may need to instruct users how to do it when using Brian's sceneries with my models.

If we have permission to convert them for Matrix and users can download them, why can't they be included in a stand alone Global Object library?

Matrix is just a downloader toolkits the added intelligence to make the downloads known to Prepar3D.

If you start the Matrix program, it offers you to download the general and continent specific files.

After that is done, the usage of Matrix has ended. The files are now on your local disk, and the Folders have been made known to P3D.

If you are only after the libraries, you can move them away, delete the rest, and remove the addon entry from P3D

Is that clear enough, John. Otherwise I will post some screenshots.

Martin, that's what I feared.

So why do P3D non-Matrix users have to go through all that palaver to get at the libraries. Why can't they be placed in a Global Object Library for direct download? We obviously have permission for the conversion.
